Disturbing: Women on Twitter Think James Holmes Is 'Hot,' 'Sexy,' 'Cute'

http://jezebel.com/5927828/disturbing-james-holmes-twitter-groupies-think-hes-hot-sexy-cute

On Monday the world got its first look at accused Aurora movie theater gunman James Holmes in action at his advisement hearing, telecast from a Colorado courtroom. Evidently the 24-year-old murder suspect made a good impression on some women, who took to Twitter to talk about how hot he is. That's right: a man who allegedly killed 12 people—one of them a six-year-old little girl—has groupies.

It might seem unfathomable to some that anyone could respond to the purported face of evil by complimenting its bone structure. Even one of the women who Tweeted about how she finds both Holmes and Trayvon Martin's shooter George Zimmerman "cute" seemed confused by her feelings. And while it's probably not "normal" for criminals to be a girl's "type," it's actually much more common than you'd think. Women have a long history of being physically attracted to people who've committed particularly heinous crimes. There's actually a term for it: Hybristophilia.

She's one of the reasons they had to hold a 2nd trial. Absolutely fell in love with those two.

Richard Ramirez got married, in prison. So did Ted Bundy.

Talk about the ultimate bad boys.

Go figure. Aim low, ladies. Have at it. Just make damn sure you never piss him off. You already know what he'll do.

SHEESH. Sometimes I think our whole country is going to Hell, in a warp-speed handbasket.

Someone can be cute without being a good catch.

Think about the whole mystic of the good-looking Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho."

Ironic that: that movie starred Christian Bale, too.

Weird.

Guys say disgusting things all the time on the Net. Is it a double standard to be 'shocked' that some women -or profiles listed as women- do the same?

Aileen Wuornos had groupies too, both men and women...and I don't think anybody really would describe Aileen Wuornos as attractive. The attraction to violent people is not limited to women though it is more often ascribed to women.

I'm no more shocked that this wanker is arousing to some people than I am that some people are aroused by the film work of Dario Argento and Takashi Miike. Violence and disgusting action makes some people hot in the pants.

In the video of him giving a speech at a science fair, he was adorable. Granted, I think of him as "adorable" in the sense I would my own teenaged son, but I can see why younger women would find him - in his pre-psychosis (or whatever) state - attractive.

I really see little appealing in that freak.

Recessed chin. Pointy nose. Girly lips. Baggy eyes. KRAIZY Eyes. Sideburns.

What exactly would anyone see attractive about this murderous freak?

It isn't like many or most of these girls are saying they are attracted to his behavior, his personality, or anything but his physical appearance. Especially for many young people, "nice looking" = "nice" and they are always surprised when the "evil" person isn't ugly or wearing a black hat.

In some ways, it is a more honest approach than the one I saw over and over here when his photo (the school ID one) first came out. He doesn't look deranged, he doesn't have the Devil's eyes. He looks like a normal enough guy.
