So Democrats don't have any brains, huh?
Well, this Democrat has enough brains to not shop in your shithole stores anymore.
F*** off, Home Depot.

(6,022 posts)Best thing to do is go with a local store, but if that's not an option - Home Depot is best. They treat their workers fairly well.
Do your research, folks.

(19,816 posts)My son has worked at Lowe's for 15 years, Home Depot fired my sister and her boyfriend because the store was purging full time employees so they used a flimsy excuse.
My brother walked out after 3 weeks working there.
There's my research.

(17,931 posts)Maybe it's different where you're at, but here in the heart of Lowes country, they treat their employees extremely well. They're not perfect. No company is. But they're head and shoulders above Depot. As a veteran sales VP once told me, Home Depot were the most unethical bastards he'd ever dealt with.

(4,835 posts)If he's not - might be able to cut the Depot some slack here...
Still profiting from the company.
If the company openly disavows the statements, and disengages themselves from this clown, that may be another story.
But I ain't holding my breath.
Lets see if HD reacts...

(4,079 posts)We bought an air compressor from HD. It was defective, so we returned it, explaining the defect and even telling them what the manufacturer said to do when they sent it back. We were immediately given a different one. So far so good. But the next time we went to HD (like the next day), we found the defective one back on the shelf. Haven't been back since.
Also, the owner of our local Ace is a friend, and good people.
AND, the next nearest hardware store is locally owned and independent, and AWESOME. They treat their employees great, and have been in the area for decades. A little more expensive, but well worth it.
I know not everyone has choices like we do, but I'm glad we never have a reason to even consider going to HD.
niyad
(113,336 posts)excellent care of me.
NJCher
(35,685 posts)Yes, a little more expensive but the amount is nominal. I justify the very slight extra expense this way:
--the store clerks in our local hardware store actually know what they're talking about
--I don't have to hunt them down
--it's faster and easier to go to a hardware store than a big box, at least here it is
Just the expertise alone pays for itself.
I have a hardware store down the street that looks like it's out of the 1800s! It's a TrueValue. I also like Ace.

When there's a Menard's 4 blocks away, staying where one is says something about the pay, the treatment, or both.

Founder a right wing big game hunter.
MontanaMama
(23,322 posts)He's definitely a RWNJ. I don't fault him for being a hunter. I fault him for being a self proclaimed trigger man who does not participate in ethical fair chase hunting. He hires outfitters to find game, he shows up on site and pulls the trigger and lets his staff dress the animal and pack it out. He doesn't even use the meat. Maybe he donates it but it doesn't really matter. He's a slob hunter and that no ethical hunter wants to be associated with. My husband has owned a taxidermy shop for 30 years and would never do work for him. Jimmy John has a bad name in Montana. We don't buy his crappy sandwiches either.

I do know that CostCo has been at least a "blue" contributor. Of course any large chain needs to not offend customers. It's far easier for the Board of Directors and the top brass to take a politically-neutral stance, but they're all fallible humans.

(15,805 posts)Well written words can have an enormous impact on social network site, but profanity will often get posts deleted. Many readers will bypass messages with gratuitous obscenities, dismissing your views out of hand because they are not safe to view in the workplace and other public venues.
my mother used to tell me that as soon as a person resorts to profanity, others tune them out - justifiably so.
Ive found this to be true throughout my life.
The Polack MSgt
(13,189 posts)I shop there exclusively because I already had a relationship with the owner - He is a fellow retired NCO who bought the store back in the 90s
He speaks highly of the Ace corporation.
It operates as a co-op so that local owners can take advantage of the economy of scale on supplies, advertising and a centralized HR/benefits program.
I don't know about the politics of it's board, but I imagine it's pretty Republican and the CEO went to Trinity Christian College FWIW.
But a quick google search didn't show any RWNJ statements of or associations with RWNJ characters.
Also, it's 4 blocks from my house rather than 15 miles down the highway, so that's a gallon of gas I don't burn
