She's now one of the better talking heads on MSNBC, but she used to be George W. Bush's communications director. What's up with that? Remorse? Did she come around? Is she just taking a job and playing a part?
She seems pretty passionate and informed. I hated her when she was telling us how great it was that Bush was illegally bombing Iraq. Is she just another Chris Matthews, cheerleading whomever is in the office and signing her paycheck?
I'm conflicted. How about you?

(43,049 posts)precisely what she is supposed to be doing.
She's said that Trump forced her to rethink things, and I see no reason to doubt that. If true, as I assume it is, that's to her credit.

(130,974 posts)she recognized she can not continue being a republican. She's very good at her job.
We MUST acknowledge and recognize when people do such, and welcome them away from the currently brain-dead kleptocracy.

(5,270 posts)She has said she did not vote in 2008 election even though she worked for McCain and Palin due to her concerns that Palin was an unqualified disaster and Wallace has said she voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

(58,785 posts)politics. Likes to keep hitting more than her "nice" face would suggest, presumably a habit she picked up during the long campaign, although she seems to think protecting Comey requires bashing Hillary for some reason.
Like all the daytime talking faces, she came to terms with the "rules" for being there, including carefully endorsing and pushing current groupthink, which often has nothing to do with truth or informing, and often involves actively misinforming viewers.

(19,962 posts)is not just for her, but for Schmidt, Frum and others, is when the Trump menace is hopefully no more, do they want the Republican Party to go BACK to what it was for the 50 years previous to Trump. Trump is the culmination of moderate Republicans like her, not standing up to scumbucket conservatives like Meadows/Paul/Cruz etc.

He was a whole different kind of republican than these shitheads today. He never would have gone along with releasing this piece of fantasy known as "Nunes' memo".
Personally, I long for GOPers like Goldwater. When Rayguns gave the party away to the Religious Wrong, the shtupping of the populace began.

(49,389 posts)Trump has stained their precious GOP beyond repair and trashed Jeb and George W. Bush along the way.
I'm sure Wallace would like nothing better than to see Trump's administration topple. Big time.

(16,887 posts)Like Steve Schmidt who worked on the McCain/Palin campaign, Nicole Wallace is a smart person who is honest and actually remembers what the true meaning of being a Republican means.
I think she believed in George W. Bush until she saw things she didn't and she has always been honest about that.
Now she is very clear about things and asks hard questions of Republicans and calls out hypocrisy.

(67,808 posts)She is a conservative. I know conservatives like her. Decent people who want pretty much what I want, but see things differently as to how to get there.
She and the others mentioned in this thread are the point of the spear toward getting back to the GOP of yore. Back to the Nelson Rockefeller types.
I'm not sure they can do it, but I am hopeful. A robust and respectful two party system is what we need. Not compromise for its own sake or for the sake of the two party system, but for the sake of the people.

So I just haven't warmed up to the wonder of Nicole.
I just don't trust these Republicans who have suddenly seen the light once tRump came on the scene. He isn't anything that they didn't work their whole lives to achieve, so why aren't they happy?
If somebody like Rmoney gets the rethug presidential nomination, you can count on these fair weather repubs to go running back with their "horror" stories of life on the liberal side.
I want to see different spots on those leopards and new stripes on the tigers.

(90,714 posts)Nicolle was so appalled by Palin that she did not vote for John McCain, and that is saying something.
I watched her on The View when she was a regular. She had no respect for Palin from day one and spoke of it often.
Shes one of the few republicans I trust. Shes genuine, and I felt like she was more like a moderate dem in her beliefs. Obviously shes no longer a repub.

(46,166 posts)Before that she worked for GW Bush in communications and for his campaign in '04. Pardon me that I'm not positive about her or Steve Schmidt even though they're now making the noises we like to hear.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me. I'm simply turned off by both of them. They've seen the light? I'm skeptical. Like Leith replied in post #23 - I too believe she'll be on the Romney train should he decide to run.
If she switches Parties I'll reconsider. Until then, fugetaboutit.

(15,286 posts)I love her format where she has a roundtable for the entire show and they have actual, calm serious discussions among guests of different political views. She asks great questions and follow up questions.
I think she and Schmidt have had true epiphanies. The others hate Trump, but like lower taxes, less regulation, etc. I'd say they're the business/country club GOP, not the crazy social crusaders who have taken over the party.

(90,714 posts)She's a small-c conservative who makes no bones about having left the GOP because of Trump. She worked with John McCain and was assigned to educate Sarah Palin, as a result of which she did not vote for McCain at all.

(11,802 posts)She's a fucking windsock! She's changing with the wind. Just like the rest i.e. Schmitt, Steele, Frum, etc. Ten minutes after Trump is gone they will be blaming liberals for everything and calling us traitors again. Try not to forget that these are the same people that spent fucking decades building the Titanic that is the Trump presidency. But by all means give these fuckers a lifeboat.

(37,748 posts)I don't think a realization of past inaccuracies is indicative of a wind-sock.
Seems more indicative of a mind subject to adapting to new information... which reading through the thread, may be a more difficult task than I previously imagined (uh-oh... I adapted to new information: I MUST be a wind-sock!!!).
But by all means... the dogmatic mind is greatly comforted by the immutability of itself.

(11,802 posts)This is a woman who worked on the McCain PALIN candidacy. For the entirety of the election. Sure she couldn't vote for them. But apparently the money was good enough that she felt no qualms about pushing this mindless bimbo on the population. What a fucking role model! Wow! She evolved! Mark my words, she'all evolve again.
And, dogmatic my ass. We are at war. If you want to give lifeboats to those that brought this shit show on us, by all means, knock yourself out.. But, some of us can see through their bullshit.
What new information? That she says what you like to hear? That she agrees with you at this moment in time? Gimme a fucking break. In order for there to be reconciliation, one must admit the crimes they've committed and beg forgiveness. She ain't done either.

(24,007 posts)...and Wilson, and I think they are intelligent (especially Schmidt) I cannot forget that Nicolle and Steve helped to infllict Sarah Palin on this country, and that Rick Wilson was responsible for the hatchet job on triple amputee Max Cleland, resulting in the election of that human version of Foghorn Leghorn, Saxby Chambliss.
I find David Jolly to be very thoughtful and analytical, and it seems like he is grieving.

(2,679 posts)I respect how she expresses herself.
I used to loathe her. Her voice was all whinny and she defended W and his ilk. But she has made many major improvements over the past few years. She doesn't whine anymore. She looks more comfortable in front of the camera. She is smart. I think she found her voice and has evolved into a pretty good TV news host.
She is still a republican or at least still supports the "old" republican ideals. I do make a point to watch her she. I hope she continues to evolve.

She and Schmidt are country over party, but they are more old school Rs.
