My dad worked on the railroad- he came home covered in blood more than once after trying to help crash victims. It’s devastating.

Never race a train no matter how late you might be.

Hope that driver is going to be ok.

DH worked for a railroad (as an accountant.) He knew of train engineers who were so psychologically messed up after a car/train accident that they couldn't operate a train ever again.

Those who are injured will be treated by paramedics and taken to local hospitals, no doubt.

As for the Republican congress people, I imagine they are deeply annoyed at being delayed. But, their "thoughts and prayers" will be with the injured and dead, no doubt.

There are multiple reports of members of Congress involved in the crash assisting the paramedics.

One of the most challenging things about this administration and these times is the number of Democrats and other good people who adopt tactics that are inconsistent with our core beliefs on the basis that the end justifies the means.
