The GOP Argument re The Memo

I’ve had CNN on in the background since six tonight, and every Republican has offered essentially the same argument with respect to releasing “the memo”.

The following is their argument (pretty much in its entirety):

GOP: The public has a right to know if there is wrongdoing going on within the FBI.

And what is the alleged wrongdoing?

GOP: We don’t know yet, but it’s based on the underlying documents.

Have you seen the underlying documents?

GOP: No. But that doesn’t change the fact that the public has a right to know if there is wrongdoing going on within the FBI.

And what is the alleged wrongdoing?

GOP: We don’t know yet, but it’s based on the underlying documents.

Have you seen the underlying documents?

GOP: No. But that doesn’t change the fact that the public has a right to know if there is wrongdoing going on within the FBI …

This same dialogue has been going on and on and on all night.

They can't deny that there is fruit so the only thing they can do is try to taint what lead to the fruit now. It sounds like it's on pretty shaky grounds and pretty easy to argue against.

It's just this circular argument that keeps going around and around.

If the Trump administration is a circus, I think I just found the carousel.

Not making fun of the situation, yet this is the first thing I thought of about the GOP.

But it seems like they are trying to build suspense to turn their nothing burger into a big deal burger.

I'm of two minds when it comes to the MSM reporting the non-news. On the one hand, they are complicit in the buildup of suspense (exaggerating its importance). On the other hand, these coy responses ought to convince the public that the GOP is just full of hot air. I'm leaning toward the MSM ignoring it because I don't trust the critical thinking skills of the public.
