I cannot find one positive thing to say about Donald Trump. He has no words, attitudes or plans with which I agree.
I expect him to kick a puppy on live TV any day now.
Soon because of him and his cult in the GOP, we will be changing the name of the country. We are no longer United.

(50,273 posts)You can usually find 1 lousy thing to like (think Dubya - he had adorable dogs). There's absolutely nothing about Trump to like or admire or think even slightly positive about.

And J. Edgar Hoover, who ran an FBI like nothing we've seen since. (thank God, or something)
VietNam, Watts, protestors penned up like animals...
None of them, though, were as dangerously off the rails as this guy. Not even Bush the Lesser was this crazy.
Wolff's book started out with the proposition that no one expected Trump to win, least of all Trump himself-- it was just a grand old time for all. Now that he won, though, he's stuck with the job and probably believes he's capable of doing it

(17,659 posts)Distract (i)DJT from hitting any big red buttons, is that the US maybe needed to not be all big body all over the world, and stay the f out of other peoples business.
With the Yemen bombing news and the N. Korea fear, its in the background, but Im guessing well leave Medico alone, at least.

(25,550 posts)That America is the land of the free and the home of the brave
Weve deteriorated to the point that if its gonna snow three inches we go 24/7 on the tv and stock up on supplies for the pending Apocalypse. We allow fascists to dictate policy and their warped, hypocritical morality. We accept oppression and repression and allow that its normal for our votes to be uncounted, miscounted, or lost. We are on a road to a version of Stalinism about which Americans have no idea.
Even if we retake all the branches of government the evil seeds have been sown.

(79 posts)But I don't rank Trump worse than Bush. Bush went to war under false pretenses, killing 5,000 US Troops, 100,000+ civilians.
Trump is the biggest piece of shit that has ever entered the whitehouse, but he hasn't had the neocon bug that Bush/Cheney had (at least not yet).

(6,926 posts)he is poisoning the judiciary for years to come. He is damaging the environment, he is endangering the workforce, he is deteriorating education. Bush was awful. Trump will be responsible for destroying much more. Also, Trump has not gone to war, YET.
But remember Bush did his part to destroy the environment, pulling out of Kyoto.

(82,383 posts)And have never seen such a low level of behavior from the WH. Even the Nixon tapes hearing him cuss up a storm don't rank with it. Donald is like a high school mean girl.
Ive never felt so hopeless about the way things are headed. The deck is stacked against us - gerrymandering, the EC (gerrymandering on a national scale), voter suppression, the nature of the Senate which gives outsized power to rural states. The MAJORITY of citizens want Democratic policies like a higher minimum wage and some kind of guaranteed affordable healthcare (to name a few) but well never get these things without an actual rebellion, and I dont see that happening. Had a real glimmer of hope with the PA gerrymandering case but of course the Repugs will find a way to take it to SCOTUS and we all know what will happen there.
Im old enough to look at retirement and I will actually get a pension, well be OK as long as my husbands health holds out so he can work til 65 for the insurance. I fear for my kids and grandkids.

(79 posts)Democrats would need 60+ senators and huge majorities in the house to have a chance. Even then, there will always be a few corporate democrats who'll side with the GOP.
Change is hard, but so many people in this country just keeping on voting GOP no matter what happens. Its disheartening.
