Now that I've read this, I can say: this is one of the most underwhelming documents I've ever seen in politics. This is a memo about how Carter Page was surveilled, arguing that he was partly surveilled because of the Steele Dossier, which was partly paid for by Trump's political opponents.
Okay. So what? The question the FBI was asking and that we need to know is whether laws were broken or the national security was put at risk by the Trump campaign. Literally nothing in this memo changes any of that.

(115,719 posts)1. I think the heartburn comes from the fact that a classified memo
that was probably written or overseen by WH staff was released for partisan political advantage, maybe less because of what was actually in it.

(52,243 posts)3. it's underwhelming in the sense that even the "partisan political advantage"
will come from the way they spin and use the memo, not from its contents.
so far, it looks like "huh? they declassified stuff and pissed off british intelligence for the big nothing?"
it will likely seem different once donnie uses this as an excuse to fire rosenstein or something.

sometimes, the pre-hype, is what theyre going for.
Now they play on it for weeks.
