Former agent: Nunes memo reveals FBI did its job
For days now, we've been waiting breathlessly for the release of the Nunes Memorandum. We were promised blockbuster, stunning revelations about corruption and willful misconduct at the highest levels of the FBI and DOJ. We were told there was finally irrefutable proof that an honorable and vital American institution was running amok, trampling civil liberties, and conducting a witch hunt simply because it didn't like a President.
So, I've read the damn thing. Several times. Out loud, even. And I didn't see or hear anything that met those expectations.
What I did recognize was a standard FBI counterintelligence investigation. I would know. I've conducted and led many of them. I've often said they are the most difficult investigations the FBI does. But we do a lot of them. And, generally, we do them well.
This one seems no different.
