(26,291 posts)Bush/Cheney were not incompetent as much as they were manipulative. And I still believe that Bush minus Cheney would not have been such a nightmare. Take Karl Rove out of the equation, and I doubt they would ever have come close enough to winning the election, to be able to steal it.
trump* is Cheney on steroids, when it comes to self-enrichment schemes. He isn't heavily invested in the military/industrial complex as Cheney was, so trump* starting a war won't be for financial gain as much as it will be to distract us from his extreme incompetence and malfeasance. His money making schemes are so incredibly obvious, but with his party being in charge, and also being equally greedy and prone to malfeasance, there's no 'checks and balances' to keep the country on track.
And as long as they don't interfere with his self-enrichment schemes, he doesn't give a damn about what motivates the rest of the GOP.
IMHO, of course.

(14,961 posts)My government wouldn't even tell me it was coming, during the Bush years. Although I couldn't stand him, I didn't question his loyalty to this country either.
