Do you hear that giant cracking sound?

That is the entire foundation of our country breaking apart. The day Trump was elected I began to prepare for a major disaster. I knew this would turn out to be one of the biggest blunders in our history.

As we all watch this freak show Trump has attacked everything that makes America what it is. Here are a few examples of what he has done in his first year.

He has attacked our immigration policies. That will hurt us.

He has attacked trade policies. That will hurt us. Why would other countries want to make new trade deals with Trump?

He has attacked countries around the world, including our allies. This will hurt our foreign policies.

He has attacked and weakened our government institutions, The justice Dept, FBI, CIA, State Dept, etc.

He has attacked and weakened our government agencies , EPA, CDC,(yikes),etc.

He has attacked government employees.

He has attacked our rule of law.

He is deregulating everything. This will lead to corruption.

He has raised the national debt, which will lead him to cut more money from the government programs we all rely on.

He has put crooked people in place to lead our government agencies.

These are just a few examples of what is happening while we watch this complete fraud of a president.

I find it very hard to believe this will not lead to a horrible ending.

This is something each person has to decide, don't you think? Whether to fail or continue to be the America they want?

I know people see that and think "over-blown hyperbole"...don't make that mistake. We are living in the early years of Trump dictatorship. He has no intention of EVER ceding power back in elections, at ANY level. 2018 mid-terms are just the next domino to fall, and once they do, all bets are off and the real question is will the United States military follow orders from Trump to attack and destroy their fellow citizens at his behest alone...

Put the jacket on Trump, lead him gently down the hall to a waiting vehicle full of quarter pounders, and drive him off to a nice, safe facility full of pharmaceuticals, where he can yell at the teevee all day. And, give him a fake cellular phone that’s not hooked up to anything.

Then we get rid of 20-30 regressive Republicans who hold way too much power. Then, we turn this thing around.

March On, Democrats!

He is just an old white guy that 1/3rd of US voting pop is chosing to follow because he says the reason many is US pop have bad lives is because the brown and slant eyed folks. Trump validates their anger and ethnocentrism.

Many of the Trump voters believe the reason they aren't living the life of their dreams is because the minorities and the Dems/establishment. They believe the Dems/establishment are courting the minority vote by using welfare and immigration to favor those minorities.

Their solution is to take the power back by BREAKING DOWN INSTITUTIONS, those same institutions that right now are keeping is from killing each other

Trump is just the current mirror of much of our population and they are motivated

hold on folks

Feb 2018

These are all good points, but without a charismatic amoral con-man leader president motivated to destroy all institutions for personal fortune and fame, they would have remained a minority voice.

I think the GOP was destined to move farther and farther to the right, as has been the pattern for almost 40 years, and
become more xenophobic, because the base is xenophobic.

But it takes a high spectrum sociopath/narcissist to blatantly disregard all norms, ethics, and facts, implement a destructive vision, and set a tone that makes it now acceptable.

I mean Germany had no shortage of anti-semites in 1932, but you need a Hitler to foment and organize that energy, and take power to implement it.

Trump and his supporters, the GOP and all those wealthy donors that adopt Trump's vision and fund it, are all to blame.

For pandering to the anxieties of the set of peeps you have described. We should be offering those peeps retraining and more job opportunities. That way they can take some pride in solving their issues. Instead, we have finger-pointing.

Otherwise, your post is right on the money. Thanks for that!

...he has put INCOMPETENT people in those positions, in order to destroy them from the inside. Or nobody.

Rick Perry at DOE--in charge of work involving subatomic particles.
Ben Carson at HUD--NO experience in administering housing programs or renewing inner-cities.
Betsy DeVos at DEd--determined to DESTROY public education, so that privatized schools with weak, agenda-driven curricula can take over.
Scott Pruitt at EPA--determined to destroy environmental protections so that corporations can earn profits at the expense of environmental protections that SAVE PEOPLE'S LIVES.
Jeff Sessions at DOJ--has ZERO interest in protecting the civil rights of Americans, particularly for minorities.

The awful litany could go on, but you all get the point.

I hope you'll pay attention to some of the good things happening which ought to give us all some measure of hope.

Trump has been cut down repeatedly in the courts.

The Republicans in Congress are not fulfilling their oath of office where Trump is concerned, but a few are speaking out now and then, and many are leaving because they see the handwriting on the wall -- just in time of the Blue Wave.

Democrats are running -- and winning! -- in record numbers. People are increasingly aware, increasingly appalled, and increasingly committed to taking back the government. Many conservative intellectuals and thought leaders are very much against him and increasingly outspoken. Here's just one article which ought to help you feel somewhat more optimistic:

Boycott the Republican Party

This is not to say I can guarantee we're going to win, or that "everything will be okay." But there ARE reasons to have hope. And nurture it.

and political power generally. It all comes down to elections if you want to limit the extent of horror in the inevitable horrible ending.

Every Democrat and independent should be circling November on their calendar and writing in red bold "VOTE OR DIE!!!" as a reminder, with hourly reminders starting Nov. 1, or earlier if they get a ballot in advance. Their should be a reminder/calendar app created just for this election with a Trump like voice that says "VOTE OR DIE", with info. and reminders re local voting deadlines and procedures. As a procrastinator, I'll happily download it.

We focus a lot on the Mueller investigation. His findings are meaningless if there's noone to enforce the laws.

A GOP majority in congress cannot be relied on to enforce any laws at this point. They're trying to obstruct the findings in the first place, and many Republican with any adherence to laws seems to be retiring.
