I wonder if part of the reason for the Nunes memo was to broadcast publicly to Carter Page,

the Russians, and other interested parties, the fact that Carter Page had been surveilled via the FISA warrant for at least a year -- from the fall of 2016 all the way into the fall of 2017 -- just a few months ago.

So anyone who had contact with him over the course of the year -- for a year after he officially left the campaign -- is now on notice. If they are ever asked to testify about any contact with Page, they can take into account that Mueller already knows about that contact.

America and the world now knows, for certain, that an American citizen, Carter Page, was the target of FISC-authorized surveillance for approximately one year, from the fall of 2016 to the approximately the early fall of 2017. This fact, as well as additional information included in those applications, has been selectively declassified. All individuals or entities who were in communication with Page during the period of court-authorized surveillance now know that their communications were likely intercepted. Hostile foreign intelligence services know a few things, too: at the very least, they know that Page was targeted, they know when Page was targeted, and they know who approved the surveillances.

Matters not. Memo was a flop OhNo-Really Feb 2018 #1
Of course it matters. If a purpose was to give a heads-up to people who may be called to testify pnwmom Feb 2018 #4

That might be one reason the FBI didn't want the memo made public PJMcK Feb 2018 #2
Makes sense. But Trump's emotional security is more important than National security. lagomorph777 Feb 2018 #3

about their dealings with Carter page, then the memo succeeded in that purpose.

Anyone who had contact with Carter Page from October 16-17 is now on notice that Mueller already knows.

Lots of people netted thanks to Page’s need to be seen as a big fish. I wonder who turned him?

Anyone who spoke with Page within the last couple of years knows that the FBI has them on tape. That diminishes the FBI's position and exposes their investigation.

The thing is, with Trump, there is no strategy. He just flings shit around trying to make a mess.
