2. There have been Muslims in China for centuries

I just finished reading Gavin Menzies' "1421" and just started his "1434". Both cover the Chinese treasure fleet which was led by a Muslim eunuch, Admiral Zheng He. Menzies' premise is that the fleet of 1421 sailed around the world, splitting up at various points to explore and map most of the world.

In "1434" Menzies proposes that the Chinese fleet visited Italy and sparked the Reformation.

Zheng He (1371–1433 or 1435), formerly romanized as Cheng Ho, was a Chinese mariner, explorer, diplomat, fleet admiral, and court eunuch during China's early Ming dynasty. He was originally born as Ma He in a Muslim family, later adopted the conferred surname Zheng from Emperor Yongle.[3] Zheng commanded expeditionary voyages to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Western Asia, and East Africa from 1405 to 1433. His larger ships stretched 120 meters or more in length. These carried hundreds of sailors on four tiers of decks.

10. Apparently they castrated young captives and forced them to serve

The Imperial Court. That way, the men had no families so their allegiance was expected to only be to the Emperor.

The eunuchs did tend to serve the Emperor faithfully but at times they were opposed by the mandarins, the educated class that also served. This caused some upheaval when new emperors took office.
