Thank you, Lawrence. This is just one more example of how women with very credible allegations of abuse aren't believed by Rethugs (and sometimes others).
Why the hell would a co-worker think she or he knows whether someone is capable of domestic violence--and be so confident that the co-worker feels comfortable calling the accuser a liar? It's Republican White Male Privilege gone wild.

(34,484 posts)had a teevee for about a week, in a motel, and am sort of catching up. I used to watch these shows online. This week is the first I've sen/heard of her but I'm glad people like her are coming forward and voicing their views about this. We need all the Constitutional scholars we have coming out and speaking up about what is true about the law and what's not.

(86,824 posts)credentialed individuals are needed to educate the masses, at this point there's not enough institutional knowledge in use. I like that she, Malcolm Nance and others are tellin' it.

(34,661 posts)lived in and around that Culture and saw so many wonderful Women totally destroyed by a Religion. Used to see them come into work with Sun Glasses and tons of Make-up and wearing long sleeve shirts on the hottest days of summer,in order to cover bruises.

(31,224 posts)it. I'm glad he's concentrating on it so much...it needs much more publicity and exposure.

(51,638 posts)for supporting an abuser as much as he is nailing Kelly. Hypocritical, religious men are so immoral in many, many cases.

(10,843 posts)it seems clear that Kelly and Hatch are more concerned about how these allegations will effect Porter's professional career than the abusive acts themselves. A picture's worth a 1000 words as they say. Pretty hard to come up with a reasonable excuse when you look at the shiner Porter's wife suffered.
But this is an old story. A man's life, career, reputation is deemed far more important than a woman's complaint or bruised body. Then there's always the redirection--I lost my temper, she provoked me, I regret the incident; it will never happen again etc., etc., etc.
No. First time is the last time. And past abuses are still abuses. Maybe when Kelly and Hatch were young men, the career/reputation precedence held sway, the black eye excused, swept under the rug.
That was then. This is now. No more.
Wonder how Kelly or Hatch would feel if Porter had done this to their daughter or wife? Different attitude, perhaps?? Probably.

(7,947 posts)but he's too insulted by everyone believing his first wife that he won't explain why he took pictures of his wife's black eye.

(7,947 posts)John Kelly probably don't think "sacred" women take out protective orders. They're supposed to be like saintly martyrs, I guess.
What is it with these rightwingers and calling things "sacred"? (Trump called investigations "sacred"-- what?)
Women aren't sacred. They are human. That's all that's necessary.
