1. Do Any of these Polls Use a Statistically Significant Sample?

Statistics can be manipulated to say anything.

5. His approval is 40%. That was Obama's on a bad day. It's Trump's on a good.

Thing is, it's a warning sign. So goes the economy, so goes most every president.

Here's a scary reality - had the economy in the late 90s been as bad as it was in the early Obama years, Clinton is almost certainly removed from office. Basically, it provided him cover and Americans started adopting the attitude, "who cares - he's got the country running smoothly!"

I've even heard it among people who don't really like, or support, Trump.

"He could do xxx as long as my 401K keeps this up!"

But it's early and I doubt the economy is going to continue improving for the next three years. It's due for a recession. Not that it's a bad thing. A recession is essentially a stock correction and we've already seen that. Yeah, it hurts, people will lose their jobs, but it's inevitable. We'll always have a recession after a prolonged period of growth. How deep the recession is, and how long it goes, though, is the kicker.

Do I predict a recession in the next three years? I'm no economist. But based on history, I'd say there's a good chance.

7. The fact that it's improving at all is infuriating.

It just boggles my mind that a single person could possibly approve of this asshole. The most obnoxious part of the poll is where people apparently credit him more for the economy than Obama. The propaganda is working and way too many people are swallowing the bullshit.

12. Trump's approval is worse right now than a year ago today.

This time last year, he had an average approval rating of 46%. It's now 42%. Has it been lower? Yes. But even his lowest, 37%, is only a few points different from where it is currently.

His disapproval is higher today than it was back in September, too.

me last week. Well I work in the retirement business so I deal with these calls all the time. Rest Assured I remind the clients that the stock market/economy has been continuing an upward trend which has been occurring over the last 8 years. Whether they get what I'm really saying is besides the point. The information is a fact.

6. Don't put too much emphasis on a single poll.

What is the sample size? How and when was the poll performed ? What was the demographic breakdown? How were the questions framed?
What is the standard deviation? etc. Without this information doesn't mean a whole lot.

Talked to a guy who said, "I was always a Democrat, but not anymore". I asked him if he approved of Trump. He said, "I can't stand how he is being treated by those who oppose him, so I'm no longer a Democrat".
