(7,434 posts)isolating the Republican base from the reality of Trumpy's felonies and espionage activities. They must figure that they have this politics thing sussed. There's NOTHING Trumpy can do that will diminish his Republican base from praising his crimes as "politics". It's truly amazing. The truth and the moral depravity have no impact.

(988 posts)I do believe that Truth eventually wins out.. I also believe that good honest decency wins at the end of the day or year or century..
WHen does this change?
I think it will tie into the life of Fox News and their watchers.. If its true that fox news is watched by mostly elderly.. then in 10-20 years things would be different right.
That is certainly a reason to be hopeful. I can't imagine how Fox would be able to attract more younger viewers down the road, unless they make some major changes.

(8,200 posts)I dealt with Republicans for a number of years at the local and state level and I can state without equivocation that they are the slimiest of creatures.

(13,468 posts)It is the only aspect of this administration that is not lazy.

(523 posts)I don't believe it is due to laziness, it is due to implicit vile intent and ignorance of proper behavior.

(2,091 posts)....before we could fully digest (another) Trump fiasco....yet another fiasco appeared.....followed by yet another fiasco....rinse and repeat.
Some have theorized that this was a deliberate strategy to divert.
What is truly scary is that this entire process has normalized the abnormal, the unthinkable and, yes, normalized Trump.
It was often several times a day during the campaign. The corporate media certainly contributed to normalizing it.
Peace
normalized crude, vulgar behavior. Now it is normal for a president to act like a bratty seven year old child, who lacks discipline and parental structure. I remember being amazed that Italy elected Silvio Berlusconi prime minister three times, couldn't imagine how that was possible until now.

(14,049 posts)When I was in school, this was probably considered the worst scandal until Watergate. Now we call a scandal on that scale "Tuesday".

(9,090 posts)probably told them they to because they were already piggybacking years of established rw talk radio propaganda with their social media trolling.
the perfect way to coordinate without direct communication. republicans are steeped in talk radio alt reality as primary secondary and tertiary propaganda targets- thats what makes them republicans
all they had to do was feed limbaugh and or some of the other talk radio gods through something like breitbart, repeat regularly, and reinforce it on social media..

(9,670 posts)Trumps this administration's transgressions, no matter how egregious, no matter what level of hypocrisy is involved.
The Republicans in Congress only act to please the base.
FOX and the RW radio syndicate make sure the base is sufficiently brainwashed to support the oligarchs, both American and Russian, even if such support is diametrically opposed to their own self-interest.
