Just imagine what he would look like in one of those spiffy outfits that Prince Phillip and the boys wear to official occasions.
Maybe he could get some pointers from Chief Clark on medals/decorations to wear to the big event.

Trump could not have done that. He would have wanted everyone to know who he was and to congratulate him for the end of war. To bow before him and give him the credit.
Trump likes to talk about "high quality people" and "good genes" in reference to himself and his family - he yearns for something that he'll never have. None of them will.
Class, and - in a well deserved snub - that good breeding that people like him have long been defined out of it.
By that I mean he desires to be accepted by the old money NYC names (and surrounding areas), who themselves excluded others based on money, name, and time - Trump wants them to accept him and they never will. Trump likes to think he's better than others but those he aspires to be accepted by think themselves better than he will ever be. Not even sitting in the oval changes that.
The name Trump will never carry the weight of the names Guggenheim or Whitney or Pratt or Vanderbilt or Astor, for example. And nothing he does will ever change that.
Like I said, a well deserved snub from the kind of people he wants to impress and who will never be impressed by him.
Any charity will take a check - but that doesn't mean they'll open their doors to you. Entre nous takes more than money - and bragging you have good genes and produce high quality people won't gain it either.
One doesn't have to approve the class conscious prejudices of (some) with (old and not-so-old) money/known families to appreciate the snub Donald Trump feels so keenly.
One of the reasons Trump wants the full royal treatment on a visit to the UK is so he can been seen as an equal to royalty - to be seen as worthy and accepted.
Same with his need for the lack of protest - to be seen as loved by "the people".
Stage a scene that reflects how he thinks people should react to him - as if he's great and admired and loved by all.
Same with his military parade - another look at me and how bigly I am moment.

(5,995 posts)A lot of the founders of those fortunes were cut throat businessmen who were treated poorly by the establishment during their life, but chose to contribute to society in a way that smoothed the access for the heirs.
Trump is without the historical perspective necessary to realize that his legacy will only be cemented by how he treats others, not how he himself is treated.
Bill Gates or Warren Buffet could buy & sell most of NYC society, but don't make boors of themselves to feed their own egos.
