what if the memo isn't setting the stage for a purge at doj... what if it's setting the stage

for pardoning everyone involved in the campaign / transition / etc.?

"the whole investigation is tainted! i'm not going to subject these patriotic americans to any more of this witch hunt!"

firing people at doj was probably the last straw in nixon's undoing.
but pardoning crooks?

shrub got away with it.
poppy got away with it.

yes, circumstances were different, but i think this might be easier for him to get away with than a purge at doj.

at all, including nuclear war, if that is what it takes to keep him out of jail.

What will he do to keep his sons or daughter out of jail? Much less but something.

I no longer expect most of them to be held accountable but I do expect to win the house and senate back otherwise all is lost.

It would not protect them from state charges and likely add to the obstruction case.

And I'm fairly certain the memo was designed to provide cover for Trump firing Rosenstein. But it didn't turn out that way because once again, Trump greatly overestimates himself and underestimates his opposition. His initial tweet of how it totally vindicates him was to me pretty much evident of his intentions. Their plan was to release the memo, claim vindication, cast enough doubt on Mueller and the FBI, and get rid of Rosenstein and Mueller.

Unfortunately for Trump but fortunately for just about everybody else, it didn't turn out that way. That it became a laughingstock of the internet outside of their cult bubble was probably quite upsetting to him.
