February 8, 2018 at 7:55 am EST By Taegan Goddard
Politico: A year into her tenure as President Donald Trumps Education secretary, Betsy DeVos generally steers clear of the words, school choice, a phrase she once used often thats freighted with racial, demographic and religious implications. Instead, she opts for gentler terms such as innovation and blended learning, and speaks of coming together and finding solutions. DeVos has by no means backed off her push to fulfill Trumps promise to inject $20 billion into expanded private education options for kids.
But one of the most divisive figures in Trumps Cabinet has figured out how to market that effort differently. Behind the scenes, DeVos met with Frank Luntz, one of the top Republican messaging experts, to figure out how to talk about conservative educational policies without sparking protests from teachers and liberals.

Just imagine what an injection of $20 billion would do for the majority of children in the public school system.....
When I look at state by state HS graduation rates..there is a definite correlation to the amount of funding per student....early childhood development...after school studies..key - emphasis on reading, writing and math...and of course, parent involvement, and parent support of their children's teachers....
Yes, I have two teachers, (5th grade and math intervention 1-6), my son, Ret. Navy Chief, 21 years..grad ASU summa cum laude, 4 years ago..brings his global, military skills, as well as his knowledge...his wife, in US 4 years, from the Philippines, masters in math, no small fete..(in my estimation, anyway) -
Overall, parental involvement, communicating with teachers, has a direct affect on how well their child learns...oh, the stories -
