Trump's parade is the latest thing flipping our country upside down
In today's NY Post, there are two opinion pieces that fascinated me.
The first is by columnist Rich Lowry where he advocates for Trump's military parade.

It's telling that Lowry has no military experience and has spent his life as an opinion maker. His only arguments for a parade are to "honor our military" and to recognize the sacrifices of the 17-years long "war on terror."
The second column is by Ralph Peters, a retired military hawk who states unequivocally that the parade is a terrible idea.

Peters is a right-wing nut-job but in this case, I have to agree with him and I recognize that he has more authority in this argument than Lowry. Several quotes leapt out of the page:
"Displays of military might have great appeal to those whove never served."
"As for honoring the troops, as a former private I assure you soldiers dont take any special joy in standing in the sun for hours while the VIPs suck mimosas in the shade."
"Surely, the money could be better used elsewhere. Plenty of vets still need health care. Maneuver battalions could use more training funds. Aircraft need spare parts, ships need repairs.
"And if, having served in uniform for over two decades, I may be allowed a personal note, I just dont like the image of tanks in our streets, no matter the reason. Our military exists to keep tanks out of our streets."
The fact that I'm in complete agreement with Peters blows my mind! Trump has turned the world upside down and inside out.
