White House Officials Reportedly Accused Corey Lewandowski of Mounting Rob Porter ‘Smear Campaign’

When White House officials first caught wind that the Daily Mail was set to publish bombshell allegations of domestic abuse against staff secretary Rob Porter, they mounted a defense — which included fingering Corey Lewandowski of mounting a “smear campaign” against the aide, according to the Daily Beast.

White House officials frantically called the office of Sen. Orrin Hatch, per the report, who once employed Porter as chief of staff, to ask the Utah lawmaker to put together a statement defending him against the allegations in anticipation of the Mail story.

The White House officials told Hatch’s office that the story was the product of a “smear campaign” being orchestrated against Porter by his political enemies. Among those they pinpointed was former Trump campaign manager (and current outside adviser to the president) Corey Lewandowski, according to two sources familiar with the conversations. Multiple White House staffers told Hatch himself that Lewandowski “was digging into Rob’s previous marriages,” recalled one source, who said Porter himself was among the officials who fingered Lewandowski.

Though Lewandowski has reportedly bad mouthed Porter in the past, he denied the allegations he orchestrated the abuse claims made against him.

Like some kind of High School love triangle? Lewandowski is jealous that Porter is dating Hicks, and vice-versa? I am waiting for this West Wing to just burst into flames. They are intent on burning themselves down. So embarrassing for our country. Sad.

.... so he could get back into the mix of things at the West Wing, get his mitts on all that top secret info for his private cash cow, and get back in a front row seat to be near Hope Hicks worried Porter might beat the shit out of her eventually.

This is a high drama bullshit White House - who could have guessed this band of fools and idiots would run the government full steam ahead into a cesspool.

Elections have consequences - retention of our Democracy is not child's play.

or something despite the obvious fact that Trump wanted him out and therefore he was out. Same thing with this Rob Porter idiot — of course they tried to hide the info about his past but once it leaked to the press he was out too (oh, yeah, “resigned”). And they planned to blame Lewandowski? Yet Lewandowski will no doubt still declare his eternal fealty to Trump. Bannon was another example of Trump’s “loyalty” — Trump dumped him and he’s been out of it ever since. His sad attempt to get Moore elected in Alabama was the beginning of the end for him as some kind of “political genius” as the press and Trump claimed for months.

Why do these dingdongs declare their everlasting loyalty to Trump when it’s very clear that he will dump them in a second if they become an issue that affects his image in any manner? Or for really any reason? He has zero loyalty so the tendency of these men to have such bizarrely intense fetishes for the guy is just so weird.
