Even if Trump is able to fire Mueller if Democrats win back the house they could and should impeach Trump and the also could pass legislation to appoint an independent council in which Trump will not be able to fire.

She doesnt want to get into it with Trump so she is dropping out, but is she someone to miss?

Because with Trump and company in charge, the events themselves have been unrelentingly negative. Rachel doesn’t even have to add any doom-and-gloom spin, as the stories out of 45’s White House are completely insane. She presents details like nobody else, and she does her homework.

She’s also been absolutely on top of the Russia collusion story from the beginning. It’s no surprise that, since last November, her ratings have been superb, often beating Hannity’s viewership in the prime-time news slot.

JUST TO MAKE SURE: I’m not being hostile here at all, I appreciate your posts and wit (not to mention what’s probably the best ID name on DU) as a longtime DUer myself. I just see Rachel’s reporting differently— some folks cannot stand her lengthy, 20-minute build-ups (which I get), but I like her detail-work myself.

On edit: My previous self-delete was a duplicate post of this one; somehow I achieved the difficult double-post

and I've noticed many times that she tends to take a pessimistic view of things. I believe her to be thorough and well-informed but she can't predict the future. I don't know what will happen. Neither does she. But she can often be a bit disheartening because of her pessimism.

And I've posted this comment in only ONE other thread.

I understand what you’re saying now. She does wade into deep detail, where an audience will hear some seriously bad stuff from multiple angles simultaneously. Sometimes her formidable intellect can be TOO sobering.

I like her approach, perhaps because I’m a bit of a pessimist myself, and things are so insane now that, paradoxically, her serpentine trails of case-building actually make me feel better (!), because it’s as if someone (in this case, Rachel) is slogging along, making connections, and doing the homework that not many appear to be doing. (Emphasis on “appear.”)

But I realize that her approach isn’t for everyone— her tonnage of detail could make one feel overwhelmed and defeated. It’s like drinking Bacardi 151 proof straight from the bottle.

Thanks for the clarification, VO. Much appreciated.

...I came up with: Brand "resigns" and is replaced by a Twitler Toadie for #3 DoJ position.

Next, Fake Preznit Cheetolini orders #2 DoJ Rosenstein to fire Mueller.

Rosenstein refuses to fire Mueller, and for that, he is sacked.

The DoJ #3 Twitler Toadie becomes #2 at DoJ and happily fires Mueller.

Twitler appoints a new #3 Twitler Toadie.

Lather Rinse Repeat when necessary.

The end.

She's a Trump appointee, and now she's going to Walmart, that well-known bastion of liberal progressiveness. Oh, wait. They're not.

In fact, all of you who think her leaving is something tragic, consider very carefully where she's going. Not to some liberal think tank. Not to some progressive non profit. Hell, she's not even going in to private practice. Nope. Walmart. Fucking Walmart.

So if Maddow seems sad at her departure, then she's uninformed here, which is scary and would make me re-think her stance on lots of things.
