This is a long article about the Fourth Estate, the New York Times, and her favorite reporter, Maggie Haberman, who has access to Trump. Warning: It's a deep dive & long read, but I know DUers read.
Despite all the articles published and the incredible shooting star of journalistic fame being lavished on their reporter, The New York Times has failed to disclose to the public that she has family FINANCIAL ties to both Russia and the Trump-Kushner clan.
This reporter is Maggie Haberman.
Well break down Habermans PR spinning, apologist work in a minute. First, lets give you some hard information that The NYTimes apparently doesnt want you to know.
We begin with Maggies mom...

It was Sammy The Bull Gravano who testified that the Trump Organizations construction partner, HRH Construction, was owned by the Genovese crime family (the mob started by Lucky Luciano). And, Gravanos testimony was given at the exact time when Howard Rubenstein was spinning personally for ole Donny Two Scoops himself.
Lets review Maggies 2015-2016 coverage again
Donald Trump and the Mafia? ZERO search results.
Hillary Clinton scandals? Between the terms Benghazi and email alone, there are 94 Maggie Haberman hits.
94-0. Its stunning.

(16,420 posts)Nancy Haberman, Maggies mother, works for the PR firm, Rubenstein, which was founded by Howard Rubenstein a PR legend, who was once called the dean of damage control by Rudy Giuliani.
At Rubenstein, Nancy Haberman is no coffee girl. Her bio lists her as Executive Vice President, and gives her history as "Rubenstein, Home with kids for six years, Harper and Row Publishers, New York Post." Later in her bio, it states, "Has a family of journalists. And the kids she was home with now have kids of their own." Nancys area of expertise: "Traditional media, i.e. print, radio, and broadcast. Big emphasis on New York media. General interest stories, medical, breaking news, nonprofits, education Lends media support to other peoples clients with her relationships established over 30 years."
Although Nancy claims shes never met Donald Trump, she has admitted to doing PR for him (because, it would be impossible to deny).
As for her PR firms history with Trump? Well, thats a deeper dive.
Howard Rubensteins work history with the Trump family began early with Fred Trump. Then in 1990, when Donald and Ivana were going through their divorce, Rubenstein took on Donalds personal PR doing the dirty work of spinning that nasty mess into something that wouldnt tarnish Donalds name and brand irreparably. Because thats the real nature of PR, isn't it? The Brand.
Jared is reportedly so close to Rubenstein, that it was Howard who Jared turned to when his father, Charles Kushner, was sent to federal prison (convicted in 2005 for illegal campaign donations, witness tampering, and tax evasion). That sounds like a close relationship, doesnt it?
Howard also played a pivotal role in another Kushner family milestone, when he advised Jareds purchase of The Observer newspaper in 2006. A few months later, The Observer did a friendly puff piece titled The Rubenstein Family.
But lets move on to what this is really all about: The Money.

(16,420 posts)I try to read everything she writes about Trump.
There was an article she wrote last month about Trump ordering Muller to be fired last June.
Did people not wonder why this information was just coming out? You don't think she held the story?
By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MAGGIE HABERMANJAN. 25, 2018
WASHINGTON President Trump ordered the firing last June of Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the Russia investigation, according to four people told of the matter, but ultimately backed down after the White House counsel threatened to resign rather than carry out the directive.

(58,724 posts)Anyway, I would assert that she has done some very good reporting and exposed a lot about the Trump WH. Generally speaking, I think the NY Times has done important work.

(3,608 posts)So I don't know what these folks are talking about. Has she been 'objective' ...yes.... and a few times I didn't like what she said. But overall...nope not very flattering.

(7,529 posts)The gap between her articles on HRC and supposed scandals like Bhengazi and a criminal enterprise like dump's right in her own backyard is compelling. She has done some reporting on dump, in concert with others but nothing like others. Could you provide links to her "great reporting" on dump?
It is also odd that dump uses her to confide in so often.

(58,785 posts)She betrayed her profession and her nation during the 2015-2016 elections, and still is. However, she has nevertheless also provided valuable investigative journalism. Do we really know who's attacking her and why?
Semion Mogilevich is a very interesting character, the "boss of bosses," even a credible figure for the conspiracy being advanced.
It's "Citizens Journalists Consortium" and their unsupported conspiracy theories I believe need a lot more investigation. Why aren't other journalists quoting them? Heck, why are they even alive doing the reporting all the planet's great investigative sources are presumably afraid to touch? (They'd have to know if there was something to this.)
Also, Vlad is believed to be the wealthiest man in the world and in control of Russia's military, as well as working side by side with the extremely powerful Russian mafia. Not exactly to be dismissed.
Maybe CitJourno.com are that far out ahead, but proceed with caution.
Interesting, MelissaB.
