Art is in the eye of the beholder!

I either find a portrayal accurate or not. Others find expertise in the abstract.

I am not the latter and find the artwork to be off.

Michelle looks too rough and Barack looks weird.

Like I said, art is totally individualistic.

I am definitely not a liberal arts fan. My brain is not wired for arts appreciation.

Still, Fund The Arts!

It's art---not a photograph.
P.S. -I hold my beer pretty well and am ambidextrous in that regard.
P.P.S.--I killed it in Jeopardy today--even Jeannie was impressed.

It's art---not a photograph - PERFECT.
Decades ago a sculptor delivered a fabulous Marley statue - the outcry was unbelievable to the point that the government had to remove it. It's at the Marley Museum at 56 Hope Road and was replaced by something way more ordinary for those who simply want a wax replica.
Jeopardy hasn't started here yet.

Some people look at the portraits and see an end and some people look at the portraits and see a beginning. What does America stand for? If not freedom and opportunity.

But the Obamas are very happy with them,
so that's what counts.

I like a photo that was posted on DU today

I imagine they saw and approved the portraits before they were unveiled, but even if they didn’t, they did pick the artists. And, both portraits look exactly like the Obamas would have expected them to look based on other works by the artists.

They picked the artists because they liked the work and found it meaningful.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, but the Obamas’ opinions are all that really matter.
