It is a rare example of a woman in the pre-modern era taking a stance against the oppression that was just part of day-to-day life.
Oppression is still just a part of day-to-day life for too many women.

Of all the paintings in that thread, hers was the only one I had seen before. Understandable, since it was in many ways the best.

It was quite good. The title was simply "Artemesia". I had never heard of her before that but I believe she was the first female artist to be considered a master.
