Innocence is over - memories - try to remember otherwise the pain leaves you hollow.
My go to song for many things - for everyone suffering as a result of another senseless slaughter

(90,714 posts)I got to hear him once at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. I was taken there as a treat by one of my mother's friends -- and oh what a treat. I was 13, so that would have been 1961.
I grew up on Harry - I think I have all his music. Geez you were lucky to have seen him live when you were really young. He was a great performer. Last year he retired from the public.

(90,714 posts)So funny -- several years ago I helped clear out an old friend's house, and I believe she had every album he ever made, in vinyl. There was just enough difference in our ages (9 or 10 years) that when I was a stony-broke high school and college student, she was a young professional with an actual salary and could afford to buy records she wanted. Belafonte had a broad cross-cultural (trans-racial?) reach in his audience. I was so devoted to him as a musician that it was not until recent years I discovered his major funding role in the Civil Rights movement.
