(102 posts)Or is it still "too soon to discuss" any solutions?
I get so tired of hearing that every time!

(5,801 posts)just replay his useless utterances from after the last mass shooting. Even the wording is the same.
Oh, and: republican policies = death

(15,320 posts)I was on the fence about it until someone pointed out how we'd already forgotten about Las Vegas and the church shooting. I think this country needs to be shocked awake. The only way anything gets done is if we fight hard and keep the pressure on, and that won't happen in the state we're in now.

(11,260 posts)...opposition to that war.
This war unfortunately also needs to be displayed in our faces to generate the opposition we need.
Emmit Tills mother showed the horror done to her boy - it made any non-psychopath cringe and wretch, but it made a difference.

(15,320 posts)Sometimes it takes seeing the evidence to get people stirred up. Get people angry enough to keep the pressure on Congress and they will act.

We already know how that one works. All you have to do is see all the upgrades payed for by the tax cuts to the VA.
Even now, the VA is waiting for the final VietNam vet to pass.

(50,309 posts)Wash, rinse, repeat. Wash, rinse, repeat. I had hopes the student activism might make a difference, then I saw the grinning photo op of Dear Leader at the bedside of an injured teen with her family all present for good measure. They should have kicked his orange ass out of there just because he signed the legislation that allows mentally ill people to buy guns.

(45,534 posts)is to make America a murderous violent shithole that no one wants to come to anymore.
Blame Muslims, immigrants, Latinos, mental illness, FBI, Military, police, parents, anything except sensible gun laws.
White males are simultaneously antifa/leftists and non-political and protected from the terrorist label. Because thank God no one was terrorized.

(63,221 posts)Over and over and over again. This will just keep happening until we the people put a stop to it by voting these NRA supported cowards out of office. Drastic measures need to be taken if anything is going to change in this country.

(5,815 posts)At least it would be something! But these jackasses just stand there with a strange, wistful look on their faces, hands clasped, and somberly offer condolences and exhort us to pray. Well, you fools, lots of people HAVE been praying that you would do something besides offering platitudes and empty promises!
We are worn out with this foolishness. If you think we will just forget about it and move on to the next chapter in this Fresh Hell, you are mistaken. Our cup is just about filled to the brim with the anger and tears of frustration caused by the killings but also your lack of action. We look to you, our leaders in DC to do something to stop this insanity. Instead we find out that many of you are bought by the gun lobby to maintain the status quo. You sold your very soul for blood money. How does that feel to have the blood of children and other innocents on your hands? I hope the money was good because somewhere along the line, you will pay for your greed and lack of concern for your constituents.
In the meantime, we need to be hounding the living life out of these fools. Marching in the streets is not out of line. Maybe if they have to hear from us en mass every.single.day they will know we mean business. Their days in office are numbered. If someone will step forward with sincere plans to help us stop the carnage, we will boot the old guard out and put new people in who will do the work for the people. Count on it.

(6,557 posts)It doesn't matter. What matters is the hundreds of young children and teens being slaughtered in an environment that should be safe for them. They are there to learn, not to be killed and terrified. School shootings are terror attacks on the nation's youth. I might add that the majority of these attacks are carried out by home grown terrorists who have unlimited access to guns and ammunition. Has anyone else noticed that the guns being used are not simple handguns, although those handguns can do a lot of damage. They are weapons that are used on battlefields across the world. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH AMERICANS THAT THEY LET THESE ATROCITIES GO ON DAY AFTER DAY, WEEK AFTER WEEK, MONTH AFTER MONTH, AND YEAR AFTER YEAR, BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE MINDSETS THAT SUPPORT WHAT IS HAPPENING BY DOING NOTHING - NOTHING TO STOP THE CARNAGE. Someone please explain to me how this is allowed to continue with only "thoughts and prayers" as the offered platitudes. Those "thoughts and prayers" are meaningless in the context of what parents, siblings, neighbors, and the nation are subjected to every fricken day. WHEN IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH!

(23,018 posts)And the NRA will continue to fund Congressmen and Politicians who will do and say nothing about it, allowing the gun industry to continue making billions of dollars in blood money.

(2,067 posts)I wasnt aware Omar Mateen or Tashfeen Malik spouted white supremacy ideology. I must have missed those findings from that investigation? Watching the wrong channels maybe?
If only Seung-Hui Cho hadnt been such a violent white supremacist, 32 people would still be alive at Va tech.
If only 34-year-old African American Aaron Alexis hadnt been a closet KKK member, 13 people would still be alive at the Navy Yard.
The post I responded to was so ridiculously uninformed and bigoted that I shouldnt have even responded, yet here I am wasting my time.

17 dead and we are back to trump indictments and playmate affairs
there will be no serious legislation on gun control or even on mental health
the only potential outcome left is how many people in the FBI lose their jobs over the flubbed jan 5th tip line f'up.
