I think tRump & Cohen are leaking the Stormy, McDougal affairs to distract

from developments that they know are coming in the Russia/conspiracy investigation.

I think it was Rachel who pointed out that there was no need for Cohen to bring up the Stormy Daniels payment.

If my suspicions are correct, then holy sh..! That means that what's coming is so bad that he would rather blow up his marriage than have the public hear or pay attention to what they really did in 2016. Unfortunately for him, the cable news media doesn't care about the affairs right now.

Trump has done shit like that before, leaking what would be normally thought of as "bad" press to distract.

I think Mueller did us all a solid by releasing today, and bringing the media back on track. Trump ain't the only one who knows how to play the media.

Let’s hope that was the strategy, which leaves the bloody corpse of his marriage in the wake

Pretty damn good acting job, though, if she’s in on this part of it

But, then.....

I suspect there are more horrible details of his crime spree that could overshadow any embarrassment brought on by the Pee Pee Tape (unless that is more heinous than we can imagine).

He could have confessed to collusion from day one.

Congress still wouldn't have acted.

35% of the population would've said they didn't care or didn't believe him.

The rest of us have known since before Election Day.

Right now, thump has Ryan and McConnell in the palm of his hands. He can get away with ANYTHING (remember the sanctions law that he unilaterally discarded?). But things could go left if the public notices that he committed treason, especially if his precious FAUX NEWS decides to cover it.

On January 22, 2018, Common Cause filed an FEC complaint about the Stormy Daniels payment. Cohen's public statement was made in conjunction with his filing a response to that complaint. While his response wasn't yet public, he made his statement to get out in front of the story in case his response leaked or otherwise was made public.
