I am so relieved for Nathan Chen. Well done, young man!!!

His final skate went really well - he did 6 quads, and earned 127.64 points in the technical score, and a total of 215 IIRC.

I have said to my husband many times that I am so glad our sons were not world class athletes. They were quite good soccer players, played Div 3 all thru college, and now still play in men's leagues (they are 25 and 28). I was always additionally glad they weren't goalies.

I cannot imagine the stress of watching your kid perform in front of the whole world in any sport, but especially not on the unforgiving surface of an ice rink. Such pressure for all involved.

That many of them all but break down in tears of relief when they complete their program. So much pressure.

My neighbor told me that the worst sport to watch your kid engage in is wrestling, two of her sons wrestled in high school.

Did your neighbor say why wrestling was the worst sport?

Because they're entangled and red faced and straining and grunting and veins popping out all over trying to pin your kid to the floor ...

...commons area while the wrestling team was practicing, ane hearing the coach shouting, "Grab him in the crotch! Grab him in the crotch!" I thought, "Eewwwwwwwwwwwww!"

Slightly OT - I've long thought that "crotch" is one of the less attractive words in the English language.
