Some great questions to ask the "arm the teachers" people

And others:

Will students know which teachers have weapons?
Who will be liable if the teacher with the gun becomes the shooter?
What will be the consequences when students are accidentally shot by a teacher?
How will armed teachers communicate in a tactical situation?

(Many more questions in the twitter thread)

I understand guns cost money, as does training, ammunition, and storage space. We don't fund our schools very well as it is, in many cases just enough to keep them from collapsing entirely. Now we have Tea Bagger types proposing to spend millions we clearly don't have on this?

And, will these teachers have the wherewithal to shoot properly? I doubt it! Someone storms in with an assault rifle, and the teachers are going to be calm enough to shoot properly? What if they're so nervous, that instead of shooting the assaulter, they mistakenly shoot one of the innocent kids??!

I would imagine the teacher with the gun would be among the first people killed.

Playing out that scene in my head, the teacher probably wouldn't get off one shot, while the shooter was spraying bullets everywhere. The teacher with the gun surely would get hit quickly, probably first.

A highlight of sophomore history, was when the teacher, the commander of the local National Guard unit, brought a selection of infantry weapons to class. IIRC, it included various rifles, training grenades, and a bazoooka.

But since they are logical questions, many can't or won't come to this thought process.

And, as the above poster mentioned : WHO is paying for this? As a person who gladly contributes to my school district, I want that money to be used for things that help the students progress. Even in my district, and we aren't even the worse off, there are plenty of families who have a hard time paying for things like pencils and notebook paper. How could anyone justify buying guns and ammo and training the teachers for this?

We have armed, trained police in the high school and middle school. They are uniformed and equipped wing communications so identification in a crisis would no.t be a problem. It should be cheaper than arming and training several teachers.

1. The amount of loss and theft in classrooms is very high

2. In 23% of shootings within the Hospital Emergency departments ED, the weapon was a security officer’s gun taken by the perpetrator. https://www.hasc.org/sites/main/files/03-hos1_0.pdf

3. I have personally known a teacher who murdered a student. Not at the school, they had an argument off campus.

What happens when a student trolls a teacher by twisting a t-shirt into the shape of a gun and sticking it in his pants?

What happens when a teacher on gun duty hears a locker door slam shut and mistakes it for a gunshot?

Can a teacher who is on gun duty mode (high mental alert) properly teach school?

Because we’re asking teachers to be infantrymen, will all teachers be required to enlist in the infantry to earn their teaching licenses?

Who pays the Army to put every teacher in America through basic training and infantry school?

What happens when a student decides to launch his shooting spree by jumping an armed teacher while she has her back to the class?

And finally, is your desire to own a totally useless gun so powerful that the rest of America has to live like we’re in a fucking war zone?

on internet MRA/Incel/racist propaganda wont even have to go to the trouble of obtaining a weapon and sneaking it into school, we’ll make sure we keep the place pre-stocked for all their rampage shooting needs.
