Lipinski describes the movement as a "tea party of the left." He says the challenges and an insistence that all Democrats must be in liberal lockstep on issues is dividing Democrats and could ultimately hurt the party and its ability to regain control of the House this fall.
Tea party of the left? Is that what he calls those of us who dont appreciate that he opposed Obamacare, voted to weaken Wall Street reform, has co-chaired the House Pro-Life Caucus, opposes marriage equality, and opposed a $15 minimum wage until SEIU dropped its support of him over the issue. Oh, yeah, youre definitely a left-wing tea partier if you want people to be able to marry who they love, control their own bodies, and earn a living wage! And I guess if you supported President Obama in 2012, youre definitely a left-wing tea partier, and Dan Lipinski is no left-wing tea partierhe refused to endorse Obama for re-election.

(12,265 posts)Bill Lipinski was one of the most conservative Democrats ever elected in Illinois. Anti abortion, strongly pro life and just all around nuts. If you heard one of his speeches you would swear it was a tea party republican. No big surprise that his pin head son didn't fall far from the tree of nuts.
Go get him!

She has no chance against him. Doesn't mean she shouldn't pursue it to get more liberal ideas out there, but he's going to win the primary and then crush the nazi running on the other side.

(82,849 posts)Here's one of those cases where folks whine about a DINO office-holder, and why can't we get a real Democrat to primary him? Well, the odious Mr. Lipinski is being challenged by a credible opponent in the primary. If you're not in the district, send Marie Newman ten bucks if you can. Particularly in the primaries, every little bit helps.
Newman can talk up Lipinski's coziness with Wall Street banks and their vulture capitalism. If that "centrist" alarmism about Hillary Clinton and her affinity with Goldman Sachs in 2016 contained even one iota of seriousness, it can be used against Lipinski to a far higher degree.

(42,641 posts)Speaking of Lipinski the Elder, here is how Lipinski the Lesser inherited his seat:
Senior decided not to rum for re-election after the time for filing petitions had passed.
Senior suggested that the Democratic Committee choose Lipinski the Lesser who was then teaching out of state.
Lipinski the Lesser was chosen.
After leaving Congress, where he had served on the Transportation Subcommittee, Lipinski the Elder took a very well paying job as a lobbyist for the railroad industry. Coincidentally, this industry was overseen by the same Transportation Subcommittee that Lipinski spent so much time on.
