It is not their job to legislate, it is their job to tell legislators what is and is appropriate on school grounds, because that is what legislators are talking about doing.
They are clarifying and correcting legislators.

(10,036 posts)And that by putting the onus on counseling (to not commit mass murder), instead of on preventing people (who may need counseling to not commit mass murder) from being able to get instruments of mass murder in the first place, this statement gets the NRA's "guns at any cost" demand off the hook. It's a tacit acceptance that no effort will be made to remove assault weapons from the equation. That's why I think it's unimpressive.
