I KNEW it! Trump has always triggered a nagging memory of a poem I encountered a half century ago.

I finally took the time to track it down and reread it:: "The Highwayman", by Alfred Noyes. The villain of the tale it tells is Tim, "the ostler" with "hair like mouldy hay".

Mystery so!ved.

Something about "her hair as black as midnight" or something..
I was about 9 when I red it...it may even have been a school assignment.

Ahhh.found it.

He rose upright in the stirrups. He scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair in the casement. His face burnt like a brand
As the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(O, sweet black waves in the moonlight!)
Then he tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.
