(63,912 posts)from appearing on my DU. I wanted them forever banned from my sight (I lost a niece to gun violence so it's personal with me).
I guess there's no way I could get them back, just temporarily...

(63,912 posts)At her funeral my brother collapsed at her coffin. He was never the same and died a few years after. my other niece who was supposed to accompany her sister backed out at the last minute. Her guilt was keenly felt. She changed her first name and decided to go into the ministry. She and her husband are co-pastors of a Methodist church in North Carolina.
I will say this. My niece's death was caused by anger, fueled by alcohol and the accessability of a loaded handgun her stepgrandfather kept, loaded, in a nightstand, ready to shoot any intruder.
This happened in Dallas.

Remember the ad for Bushmaster, the rifle used at Sandy Hook? It nailed it:

(10,624 posts)says more about us than it does about them.
I just hope that all the young & impressionable men with smaller than average penises, liberal and conservative alike, don't internalize this nasty streak in our culture and allow it to make them feel "lesser than" men who are differently endowed.

(54,770 posts)and you may be 100% correct. But I've been dealing with these losers for too long to coddle them -- or play nice with them -- anymore.

(38 posts)I've never owned a gun in my life, and I refuse to even associate with those who do. I feel physically nauseated around them, and I've done everything I can in my life to fight back against the terrorists in the NRA. I also have an very small penis. Before anyone trys to reassure me with the standard comments, no, it really is small. Like, to the point of uselessness. I've tried. This fact has caused me severe mental anguish, and has sabotaged my every effort to find love and a fulfilling relationship. I recently began taking prescription meds to deal with the crippling depression and near-suicidal thoughts, and things have improved somewhat. As a man who is too small to ever have a fulfilling sex life, what's the take away for me here? This is clearly meant to insult based on a physical characteristic that no man has control over, and clearly paints that deficiency as something to be used against someone. I mean shit, what's the message? Why are so many people so willing to use a very real and personally crippling deficiency as a cudgel?

(116 posts)I keep hearing the small penis insult. As a man, that is offensive to me. I would NEVER own a gun and think such a thing is disgusting but why is it okay to shame the size of a man's genitalia? Such a thing is a real, crippling issue for many men.

(33,643 posts)It's about gun owners having insecurities about the perception of their 'manhood' ... it's an unfortunate societal construct that penis size has somehow become associated with 'masculinity' (larger = more of a man) but it is what it is. Obviously there's little or no truth to it and who really gives a shit about their masculinity anyway, it's a dumb and vague and totally subjective 'measure' to begin with, but some men clearly DO anyways.
What this sort of 'insult' is actually meant to convey is that the gun-owner is insecure in their masculinity and penis size is just a stand-in due to convenience and a certain annoyance factor.
johnpowdy
(116 posts)Because I can see how making fun of genitalia size could be triggering for some men. Going after masculinity and toxic masculinity is much better in my opinion.

(10,624 posts)It was brave.
Most people don't realize that approximately 1 out of every 167 men has a penis that is small enough to be designated as a "micro-penis" by medical standards. It's not at all uncommon.
Shockingly, many of those men don't own AR-15's.

(8,311 posts)... I never orgasm from penetration. It doesn't matter, big or small, about whether I (and the vast majority of women) are going to have a good time in bed (correction for me: too big hurts, so actually too big IS an issue). It's the hands, the mouth, and especially the brain that are the major organs creating the pleasure in lovemaking for us.
And that I am sorry the way you were made is causing you so much depression. It's easy for me to say that it wouldn't mstter to me. But that doesn't mean it doesn't impact you. Hugs.
