that the Dems "are fading fast" - what that means, to me, is that the REPUBS are fading fast. What Trump (and some others) do is they take their own weaknesses and failings, and accuse the other side of it first. That way, they get ahead of the accusation. When and if the other side points out their weakness, it sounds like a defensive statement...like "same to you, too!"

That strategy is straight out of Carl Rove's book. Trump does it all the time.

He was doing that when he was yelling on campaign stages that "the election is rigged!" and "If I don't win Pennsylvania, the election is rigged!" His team, in fact, was rigging the election with the Russians. But they got ahead of the story, in case it broke (and there was info out there that the Russians were meddling). That way, if and when the Dems claimed that, it would sound like a juvenile defensive statement.
