Stelter: Trump MISquoted two different @FoxNews reports tonight.

Trump MISquoted two different @FoxNews reports tonight. Either he truly misunderstood what he heard on TV, which is worrisome, or he purposefully misquoted it, which is also worrisome.

This is the first misquote Stelter's referring to, Trump's tweet and Stelter's response:

“Russians had no compromising information on Donald Trump” @FoxNews Of course not, because there is none, and never was. This whole Witch Hunt is an illegal disgrace...and Obama did nothing about Russia!

He's completely misquoting Fox here. Fox hosts pointed out that there's nothing *in the Dem memo* about the Russians having compromising info about Trump. But what he quoted was never said on Fox. Maybe he misunderstood the TV coverage?

And this is the second, which got a "Holy moly" response. Trump's tweet first, and Stelter's two tweets afterward, which were followed by the tweet quoted in the subject line:

“Congressman Schiff omitted and distorted key facts” @FoxNews So, what else is new. He is a total phony!

Holy moly. The @FoxNews anchor said "Congressman Schiff, he ARGUES the REPUBLICAN memo omitted and distorted key facts." Trump just deleted 5 words from the quote to allege the opposite meaning.

SCHIFF is the one who's alleging the Republicans -- quote -- "omitted and distorted key facts." That's the exact quote from @RepAdamSchiff's Twitter feed.

Which, as Stelter said, is also worrisome.

Stelter just retweeted comments from NBC's Benjy Sarlin, starting here:

I joke, but this is a pretty good window into how the president processes news in general

How many times have we seen the president walk out of a meeting somehow convinced that a participant told him he was the greatest leader since Solomon, for example https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900009238/trump-the-greatest-president-ever-hatchs-office-clarifies-senators-praise.amp

Hear someone mention his name, delete a few words here and there, and wow they really love me! It’s the same thing here.

Similarly the president heard about indictments last week that contradicted almost everything he had said about Russia for a year — and was surprised people didn’t all fixate on one ambiguous element he interpreted as positive
