I haven't followed every argument against the random selection of teachers for concealed carry, but.

As I understand Trump's argument, it would be a deterrent to shooters if they knew that some teachers had guns, but were unsure of exactly who carried and who didn't. Is that right?

I'm just wondering, if we're almost always going on the assumption that the white shooters are mentally ill, isn't it poor logic to expect that they will analyze the situation in a sane way?

Anyone who ever attended school has to realize what an insane proposition this is. Just another example of Trump's cluelessness on what actually goes on in this country and how people behave.

will matter not a whit.

Arguably any teacher fumbling to get to their concealed handgun is wasting valuable moments when they COULD be getting students to safety or concealing them in safe areas. To me, that is irresponsible as HELL!

I guess low pay, 50+ hour work weeks, a lot of college education/degrees, little respect from uptight parents, staff cuts, constant illness, etc aren't enough deterrents. Betsy DeVos will be thrilled along with all the "privatization of public educ." supporters. I know if I were considering changing careers (which I did and chose teaching) or beginning one as a teacher being the initial target of a shooter would influence my decision.

deters people from committing death penalty worthy crimes.

It seems to me as though states that have the death penalty have more such crimes than those that don't. Haven't researched it closely, however.
