I'm floored by this statement. We do have a lunatic in the white house.
45* talking about the North Korea sanctions:
"If the sanctions don't work, we'll have to go phase two," Mr Trump said. "Phase two may be a very rough thing, may be very, very unfortunate for the world. But hopefully the sanctions will work."

(3,564 posts)That the closer Mueller gets to Trump - to include the possibility that it may be possible to conclude that Trump actively worked with the Russians (for their benefit) as payment for monies owed - that Trump would not start a Nuclear War to avoid the charges?
Trump puts Trump before everything to include the Nation.
I believe Trump would start a nuclear war to avoid facing the consequences of what he has done and is doing and would continue to do.
If the GOP loses the house and senate - the election in November 2018 - and Mueller is continuing with his investigation or is prepared to present to a Democractic Congress information that would not only lead to Trumps impeachment but also future criminal indictments once he is out of office - then I do believe that he would start a war without thinking twice.
Just look at the GOP tax cut - it hurts those states that didnt vote for him - without consideration on the impact to the nation.... it is all about the GOP and Trumpism.
My opinion.

(48,993 posts)As for why it isn't the biggest topic of conversation...Trump's blustered about North Korea before, and there's so much else to talk about.
And as I posted last October, Trump's been talking about nuclear war for decades:

Read the quotes from the Mother Jones article I cited there. Trump's long seemed to believe nuclear war is inevitable.
He's crazy. We have to hope that the saner people around him can restrain him.
