Forgotten Casualties - The Massacre Wounded. Virtually Never Mentioned By MSM.

It is bad enough that we tend to forget the dead in these massacres for all practical purpose. Another part of these massacres is the fat of the wounded. Many of these wounded will not just live with the psychological scars from attacks, they will have to live with different levels of disability. Some wounded have been hurt so badly that they are almost the walking dead. They live a life of lost possibilities and lost futures. Some will live with shattered lives for decades.

And if you do hear about the wounded you hear praises of their courage and bravery about how the are going to overcome their wounds. They are brave and stoic souls who through grit bear through their pain and deep sense of loss. They shed nary a tear. Aren't they brave soldiers. What crap. Inside these mutilated wounded are supposed to take the bullets for what cause?

In some of the most severe cases they will not walk again, will be minus limbs, have chronic illness due to loss of organ function, and the very worst will need full time care or end up in a nursing home. And in every case there will be medical bills in a era where the GOP is trying to end medical care for millions.

And the media is complicit in this cover up. This kind of sanitation is supposed to protect the public. What bullshit. The fast clean up and sweeping the consequences of this kind of violence only allow the unacceptable status quo to continue and gives the NRA and GOP and pro gun elements cover.

they will have to suffer with for the rest of their lives.

We see TV dramas where the hero gets wounded and in the next episode the hero is just fine like nothing ever happened. I think this is how most people think of a gunshot wound and it couldn't be more wrong. Bullets do terrible damage when they enter the body, any part of the body.

Of course, information concerning minors is always limited, unless they lose their privacy rights. For this aspect of it, it's not just "can I get the information?" but also, for media, whether they are allowed to *use* the information.

You lose your privacy rights at death, for the most part.

Here is our compassionate humanitarian president comforting a young survivor.

Here is more about the photo:

Trump campaign emails photo of Parkland survivor, asks for donations

(CNN)President Donald Trump's re-election campaign used a photo of a survivor of the Parkland, Florida, shooting in an email Saturday that asks its recipients to donate money to the campaign.

The email contains a photo of 17-year-old Madeleine Wilford in a hospital bed surrounded by her family, Trump and the first lady. The President visited Wilford on February 16, two days after the attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which left 17 dead.

...

Near the end of the message, there's a link to the campaign's donations page

As long as the survivors can be used for fundraising purposes for his reelection campaign, I can assure you they will not be forgotten by Our Great and Glorious (yet humble) President.

Some may need support their whole life.

I don't believe the lack of coverage is not a cover up. The media has little to report. The wounded individual's information is protected by their age and by privacy laws. I am glad the media is not hounding them. I'm sure that gradually many of their stories will emerge. When they, not us, are ready.

Sun Feb 25, 2018, 12:12 PM
Feb 2018

As with mental health, in general, the supports in place for survivors of gun violence are pitifully inadequate, particularly given their broad scope. Too often, they are swept under the rug and dismissed not only by the mainstream media but also the general public. We try to fool ourselves into thinking we can erase their very real pain and damage; if we just ignore the problem, it will go away, and we don't have to take responsibility or take action to solve this very ugly, and pervasive problem. This is another awful example of where the "rugged individual" meme is harmful and only perpetuates the wounding and lifelong damage of gun violence victims. We can do so much better for each other.

Sun Feb 25, 2018, 12:51 PM
Feb 2018

Soldiers are ever seen? How many people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen and more who have been wounded are ever mentioned? It's too uncomfortable and makes it hard to sell trucks and pizzas after showing the public what the realities of these tragedies look like afterwards. Just a few American examples:

MSD HS 17 dead 15 injured
Rancho Tehama Elementary 5 dead 10 injured
Sutherland Springs Baptist 26 dead 20 injured
Las Vegas 58 dead 422 injured
Fort Lauderdale Airport 5 dead 6 injured
Dallas protest march 5 dead 9 injured
Pulse Nightclub 49 dead 53 injured
San Bernardino 14 dead 21 injured
Umpqua Community College 7 dead 6 injured
Emmanuel AME church 9 dead 1 injured
Isla Vista CA 6 dead 13 injured
Navy Yard 12 dead 8 injured
Sandy Hook 12 dead 2 injured

Just a few examples, and these injuries don't count the scars of the mind. The injured are folks from all walks of life - often including police officers responding to these killing sprees.

Contact local media, encourage those effected to send letters
and appear in person at the NRA offices and Politicians who
support NRA policies requesting they assist in paying the bills.
If they don't respond, come back with media and demand their
assistance. Make copies of the bills minus personal info available
on social media. Maybe icons to be constantly displayed in
public, signs, t-shirts, caps (sort of like for wounded warriors).

Many in their Marietta community are praying for Maddy Wilford and her family. Her grandparents said they’re still overwhelmed and Maddy’s mom, Missy, was already by her daughter’s side Wednesday evening in the hospital.

Both Maddy and her brother were at the Parkland, Florida high school when the shooting happened. Her brother is OK but Mandy was shot several times.

Her mother confirmed on Facebook, Wednesday afternoon, that she had learned her daughter was shot.

“Dear Friends and Family: Maddy is in the hospital,” the post read. “She’s alive but she has been shot several times. Please, please, please pray for my beautiful daughter.”

Anthony’s father, Royer Borges, calls his son a hero.

During the gunman’s rampage, Anthony “was able to save about 20 other students as he attempted to close and lock the door to a classroom,” Royer Borges wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to help the courageous teen, which has raised more than $198,000 so far.

“He was shot multiple times,” his father wrote.

Both legs were shot, his left upper thigh bone was shattered and a bullet went through his back, he wrote.

Anthony is in stable condition and has undergone several surgeries.

The injuries that the teenage shooting victims suffered were horrifying. Brain injuries, amputations, spinal injuries....all of it was awful to read about. The survivors of assault weapon shootings suffer from life long disabilities. This is what the public is not seeing, the horror of the aftermath.
