I don't see the reason for this, given the attention on election hacking and the historical importance of the 2016 election. The perpetrators know what happened.

From my view, I'd like to see the Admins either reveal what they know or explain their silence.

I remember the "God King Trump" replacement page. It matched in style the crudest Trump originators on on 4chanpol, 8chan, redditthe donald, and Russian Internet factories. It looked like it was designed by a 13-year-old.

If this is correct, then it doesn't have the "God King Trump" phrase that I remember and it was seven minutes long.

as I recently posted here, the wins in the 3 electoral college states that put icky over the top were margins of less than 1%!!

I believe the Russians hacked the vote; they have the capability.

The election day hack here was chilling and I still have trauma from it.

Then just as the truth has come out about the Russians cyber attacks and cyber warfare and social media infiltration, there is no doubt in my mind that on Election Night, Clinton's team who had known for months about what Putin and the Russians had been doing and done was also in shock - you could see it in their eyes.

But what happened on DU was a concerted and deliberate effort by someone, some group that knew from past elections that this was a website that had active and smart citizens who were watching and monitoring a lot going on out in the polls and streets and news and reported it back and disseminated it widely. That there were smart people on DU who caught things and got the word out. And they shut it down that night. And the sound and image with the guns and music and Motherfucker and Trump in the Limo freaked me out....the days after....and that is what they wanted and I believe it is tied to Russians and Trump associated supporters.

I pray someday that EarlG and Skinner will know and share it with us all and that something even can be done about it....

I figured, if the opposition was willing to go that far in screwing with us, they definitely were "fixing" things elsewhere as well.

At first, I didn't put the two events together. I don't have TV so expected to watch the results via DU (as I have every election - thank you!). So it was frustrating, then as I saw on other sites that Florida wasn't moving the right direction, I got that DU being down was just to weird a conicidence. After that, never doubted for a minute that it was done by pro-grump entities.

I'm curious how big the red shift was in swing states? Was the red shift greater than in past elections? I'm sure someone is analyzing that, but I don't know where to find it.

Historically, the US would declare a foreign election invalid if the gap was too great between exit polls and vote tallies. Here, we just invalidate the polls.

I didn't sign in to DU for many months because was worried about the security on the site. Thank the gods that DU didn't go away. It was targeted right eve of the live election and there has to be a reason beyond simple vandalism.

2000 - Bush v. Gore, Brooks Brothers Riot, Recounts stopped, President annointed by stacked SCOTUS...enough said.

2004 - Ohio irregularities and razor thin re-election of a deeply unpopular president amid a deeply unpopular war effort...

2008 - Nothing could save the GOP from Palin, "fundamentals are strong" and complete economic free-fall...this one was never going to be stealable in any meaningful way...

2012 - Just remember the shock on Turdblossom's face (Karl Rove) when he was freaking out on air about the call of Ohio...the playbook was being run and the expected result was going to be a tip to Romney...the sheer vote totals though did not allow it to come off

2016 - the least on the level election in American history. Russians impacted the weak-minded low information voters in innumerable ways and their cyber-attack on the voting machines was successful beyond their (and Trump's) wildest dreams. They were able to change vote totals in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio as well as the usual GOP voter suppression efforts in places like Florida and North Carolina.

The United States electoral system of 50 separate state elections spread over 435 congressional districts and in 1,000's of polling places with separate security measures and procedures leaves it WIDE OPEN for sophisticated hacks and fraud. The lack of any movement by the Trump White House to close these loopholes and protect the most solemn right of US citizens - while screaming inanities about walls and immigrants - is utterly disgusting.

I hope they all die on a hangman's noose and that the bodies are televised to show that treason dost not prosper in 21st century any more than it did in antiquity. The perpetrators are known, the will must be summoned to prosecute, convict and execute the guilty.

when we had punch cards and hanging chads, those elections were rigged using the machines of the day
they have been scaring people at the polls for over a century, literacy tests etc
now they say it's terrorists or they will take your guns or take your jobs or you right christ
when the whole time it is corporations buying our officials and elections

The only solution is to vote in mass

Sometime after mid- afternoon MDT Hillary was given a 97% chance of winning Florida.
At that time I was nearly positive Hillary would win.
Then all of a sudden the probability fell off a cliff. It was like a nightmare.

here in Wisconsin suddenly switched to Christmas music the day after election and has been oldies station ever since. Never mind it was one of the most profitable progressive talk stations in the US.

With both these things happening at once - and the timing of them on and just after election day - it was pretty clear to me that the DU hack was more an intentional act of repression than just some juvenile rw prank.

In both these venues people would have been questioning the results and comparing notes about irregularities observed and statistical anomalies. In 2004 (another highly questionable pres. election)people were sharing exit poll data, screen shots, plans and fundraising for Ohio recount, etc.

Pretty clear to me that "something happened" - though I cant begin to speculate re: who exactly and the extent of exactly what it was that happened.

What a horrible day that was. I was listening on NPR and when they had so much trouble calling Pennsylvania, I just had a sinking feeling and it felt like 2004 all over again. At that point I turned off the radio and went to bed - decided that I wanted to have one more night of having some hope that everything would be OK.

Thx for bringing it up. Im ok with admins not wanting to reveal any detail about it, but I think its important that we keep in our consciousness how freakin' NOT NORMAL these past few years have been.

PS - re my numerous "unexplained edits" - Im just a sloppy writer and it takes a while for me to get the words crafted just right. No real substantial changes. Hope that now "explains" it. Oops this makes yet another edit - oh well!

They were openly mocking us the moment they knew the whole thing was about to blow up in their favor and we could do nothing to stop them. It was similar to the scene in "Independence Day" when the aliens technology is used against them and they quizzically observe the image of a laughing skull just as the nuclear bomb countdown to blowing up their ship begins.

They used our technology against us. They used our cultural myths to mock us as the countdown began to inevitably blowing us up.
