I do not go to Chic-fil-a and I love their chicken.
I do not eat at Hardees after those soft core porn ads.
I do not buy gas from EXXON, yes I can keep this up for years.
Obviously I do not shop at Hobby Lobby.
I broke up with Land's End when they cowed to those assholes and removed a Gloria Steinem ad, I used to buy from they a lot.
I am happy to see all these companies ditching relationships with the NRA which should have been done long ago.
HOWEVER, WON'T THEY JUST GET MORE MONEY FROM RUSSIA?????????

(6,324 posts)All that the relationships that are ending were are discounts for NRA members.
Ever see listings for AAA or AARP discounts? Same thing here. And it was just a way for those companies to try and swing customers their way. They saw the NRA as just a group with millions of members as potential customers they could get for offering a small discount.
The NRA never made any money off those discounts. They just negotiated them as a benefit for membership.
The truth is none of that will hurt the NRA at all. Its symbolic but thats its. Nobody who joins the NRA joins for the discounts in car rentals or hotels.

(2,805 posts)But I always thought it was a bit too sweet, so didn't really care for it that much. Yeah with the Exxon boycott and I used to go there by first choice. I personally went against McDonald's for about 15 years after getting under-cooked food when they went to a new on-demand cooking process and never really apologized or admitted there was a problem. A year or to later they scrapped that system but I didn't go back for at least a decade. I can take or leave their food but the Filet-o-fish is an easy way to get some fish in your diet.

(1,596 posts)I boycott other businesses but Home Depot is top of my list right now.
I also need to buy some things that I would normally get from Amazon but when I think about Amazons coziness with NRA TV I start looking for some other place to buy them. I am checking out Ebay this morning.
I feel that it is part of my responsibility as a consumer to be aware of who profits from my purchases and to shop accordingly.

(38,958 posts)I am sure that many reviews are perhaps less than legit, but it does give you a place to start looking for stuff. Sort of like Wikipedia is a place to get a general background of information before digging deeper. Once I have a better idea of what it is I need and a cost structure, then I can do a more extensive online search and usually come up with the item or part for less.
