I think Trump knows that he is toast.

He knows that he is eventually going to go to jail. I think Hope Hicks bailed because she was told by her lawyers she needed to to it to limit the legal damage. The tariff gambit is the equivalent of Hitlers battle of the bulge, hoping that it will work and make him so popular that he can override the investigation.

But I suspect Hope's talking to Mueller knowing she'll end up doing time if she doesn't. i think others are already talking too. That was why she refused to answer questions to the House committee the other day. She knows a lot too. Putin's going to turn on him soon I bet and this little display he had of missiles hitting Florida was a message maybe, or if he's already stiffing his Russian creditors. He has to create a major diversion, a war to try to escape this with, and that's whats really scary, because he would do it, if he could. Hope is in deep and may have left like you said, because of her lawyers telling her to run, as fast as she can away from these criminals. Mueller has probably already had her diary for a while. The tariff could also be because they couldn't shake down China and others for money with loans or concessions for themselves so he uses our government for revenge, and more distractions.

if he starts a war there will be protests that will make Vietnam seem like a day in a meditation garden. He's not nimble or clever enough to manufacture another sinking of the Maine or Tonkin Gulf "crisis", and faces the real possibility that our military will mutiny. Not many of his fracturing "inner circle" would support him -- maybe that little squirrel monkey Stephen Miller, along with his family, but beyond that, I just don't see it.

If a fair and honest election is held, I seriously think it is not unreasonable to think there will be enough votes to impeach, and quite possibly, given the Republicans he's burned, convict.

Of course that useless mindless bigot Pence might pull a Ford and pardon him, but it's quite possible Pence, a petty criminal compared to Trump, but badly stained with Trumpism, might go full Agnew.

He's like a mob Boss. The Godfather. He is the sun and the moon. Planets revolve around him, in his opinion. He always lands on his feet, never has to pay the piper. Because he's the smartest man in the world. Top O'the World, Ma.

He has delusions of grandeur. He knows he has to pay a judgment or fine periodically, and he's fine with that. But serious trouble? He always gets out of serious trouble. He's The Don.

There is no way his mind can envision serious trouble, a criminal charge, not to mention jail time. He's like a snake and has been able throughout his life to get out of any trouble. He's been crooked all his adult life, but has gotten away with it.

But he knows Mueller is a problem who is conducting a "Witch Hunt" and causing him trouble, and wants to say that Trump's election isn't legitimate. He knows Mueller is closing in. But I don't think he envisions that it will cause him to leave office or cause serious legal trouble.

He just sees Mueller as the latest challenge, just like many before.

He's got one serious flaw: he is running his White House like he ran his businesses, and the rules are not the same. It's not just a matter of getting good press!

He also has a very tenuous relationship to reality, in my opinion. He tends to believe he can just say whatever is expedient in the moment and make that reality true--whatever "true" means to him. It's not so much that he's a con, but truth or fantasy are merged together for him.

Maybe, when he is alone (I assume) and all is quiet, he has time to think back over all his sins and is adding up possible jail time. He is probably adding up how many millions it will take to buy himself and Jared out of trouble. He surely doesn't think Mueller will fall for that idea.

The only thing that will keep him out of jail is being POTUS. He might get some leniency, but his mouth and tweets are jeopardizing that possibility. You're doomed, Donnie!

I don't see Drumpf ever going to jail. Like everyone else here, I'd be thrilled if that happened, but I've seen this story too many times, and guys like him never pay for their crimes. He has too much support behind him, and probably has something in his back pocket that will bail him out should the need arise.

I look at what happened in the fiscal crises in the 00's, and how not a single person in the banking industry was held accountable. When you get to Drumpf's level, you have lots of friends, and Power. Bad things just don't stick to you.

Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think those in the administration are truly worried, certainly not Drumpf and his inner circle. They expect to get away with this.

about anything. He absolutely does not know he's toast, and in reality he's probably never going to go to jail. He'll get to complete at least this term, enabled by the corporatocracy (not sure how that should be spelled) and Republican power structure. If we are lucky he'll be named "Unindicted Co-Conspirator" but I don't have a lot of faith that will happen.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
