NBA star Dwyane Wade received a heros welcome Wednesday at Douglas High School, a couple of hours after Education Secretary Betsy DeVos irritated students with a brief but highly publicized visit.
DeVos visited the Florida high school to discuss safety after a gunman killed 17 students and teachers last month, and some of the survivors have urged lawmakers to adopt new measures to restrict access to firearms. But at least one student complained the Trump administration officials visit was superficial and insulting.

In contrast Wade, the Miami Heat star, slapped hands with students as he walked through the cafeteria during a surprise visit a short time later.
Ive been amazed from afar, and I just wanted to come and say that Im inspired by all of you, Wade told cheering students.
Wade has offered his support for the school after learning one of the victims, Joaquin Oliver, was buried in his jersey.
