Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe truth that is taboo for Trump supporters and conservatives to hear?
Everything they heard about Hillary Clinton was a lie.
They cannot compute that fact.
Hillary Clinton had nothing to do with the Americans being killed at Benghazi.
Hillary had nothing to do with the "Fast and Furious" charges of Mexican guns.
Hillary had nothing to do with the "Uranium One scandal".
Hillary was not found guilty of any charges from any investigation.
Hillary had nothing to do with any child-sex ring.
Hillary did not expose any secrets to Russia or foreign agents.
Whatever they may think about Hillary is a lie.
That is the truth that Trump supporters cannot handle.
Everything they say about Hillary is a lie.
But, if you tell them that fact, it will blow their minds.

(9,897 posts)I am ashamed of my 1998 self...at that time I rolled my eyes and thought "yeah, riiiiiiiiiiight Hillary....a vast, right wing conspiracy.....lay off the glue sniffing honey...."
I was never more wrong in my life and it is to my eternal shame. By 2000, I had come around to reading the platforms of the 2 parties before the presidential and congressional elections and I have never once voted Republican for anything at any level since...but I was skeptical of Hillary's claims then and I am embarrassed about it now.
I am sorry Hillary. I was naive and cynical at a time when I should have been more inquisitive. You were right then, you were right in 2016 and you are right today.

(67,782 posts)....in 2006 as "Operation Wide Receiver". It was renamed "Fast and Furious" after Obama took office (not at his direction, though) and was ended less than two years later.
Also, the only "scandal" in the Uranium One deal was one rogue participant was involved in kickbacks to a Russian company. Other than that the deal was perfectly within the law and was approved by a number of agencies. Not a single ounce of uranium has or will ever leave the country.

(23 posts)There is a tactic of 'foregone concluding' that I see all the time on right-wing media. It is when the guilt of an individual is treated as fact before any kind of due process is able to occur. By the time there are actual findings, it doesn't matter if the person or party in question is exonerated. They have been 'guilty' for so long and anything other than that original foregone conclusion is an example of the system not working.
Hillary has escaped justice SO many times according to this tactic.

(18,636 posts)It wasn't through some mass election fraud or voter machine hacks, all they had to do was make Ms Clinton the most vile candidate in American history.
When asked why she was voting for Trump, my own granddaughter said "because Hillary lies". She gets her news from Facebook and other social media sites.
BTW... you left out that Hillary was so stricken with a terminal disease that she wouldn't survive the election, let alone a term in office. Also that she murdered more people that John Wayne Gacy by her own hand.

When questioned about it, she just had to respond with a couple of questions, "Did you back regime change in Libya? You did? Based on all the countries where we have done regime changes in the last decade and a half or so, where did it NOT result in this kind of chaos? Nowhere? Then STFU."

(1,148 posts)I went through twelve years of Catholic schooling and never learned anything about the Enlightenment. I imagine that it's the same in a lot of schools. I learned all of that from my mother. When I was little, we used to travel around the eastern part of the US and learned American history. My mother taught me that the Enlightenment was about thinking for yourself and not letting emotions determine your political beliefs.
Of course, Nixon was president then and my mom had to explain why a bad man was in office. There was also Vietnam, and my parents had to explain that.
I'm not inclined to "give them a chance" because I remember playing at other kids' houses when I was a kid and some kids and their parents said the most racist stuff. Now they're on FB and they're Republicans. And I'm reading their crap and thinking, "I know your secret. I remember when you didn't want black kids at your school. I remember the eighties when you or your parents complained about welfare recipients."
Of the few Republicans I know, one also follows Alex Jones and thinks 9/11 was an "inside job" and that fluoride in our water is poisoning us. How am I supposed to give these people the benefit of the doubt?
