Or is/was it really this/that bad?

(115,920 posts)The Olympic cauldron was totally cool.
However, McCartney's voice isn't what it used to be. The Queen's hair looked purple, and the British team's uniforms have weird golden armpits. Other than that, I thought it was pretty good.

(29,257 posts)LOL. Good one.

(22,271 posts)that I or my husband could find. It's going to be frustrating as hell not being able to watch any of it (no tv service).

(22,271 posts)I clicked on "London Olympic Games" and got a test pattern. Clicked on "London Olympic Games Highlights" and got the same thing.

(22,271 posts)Still not getting anything but thanks for your responses nonetheless. As my uncle used to say, "guess you're not holding your mouth right." I'm sure somewhere there will be highlights that I can watch.

(22,271 posts)NBCOlympics.com says you have to have an internet connection (got it) AND a tv connection (don't got it). I've tried other sites but either they don't work for me (tried it in Firefox and Chrome) or you have to d/l software that my internet security says "I don't THINK so!"
I'd even be happy with a taped version. They have video "highlights" but nothing with the full show.
I understand NBC is getting a lot of flak on FB & Twitter because of it.

(39,388 posts)Primarily because they had to shut up.

(7,641 posts)I wish they'd give the Olympics back to ABC.
hifiguy
(33,688 posts)been equaled. ABC always seemed to let the events speak for themselves and frame them effectively.

(2,549 posts)NBC looks like a bunch of amateurs by comparison.

(33,688 posts)one might think that the opening ceremonies could at least have "restricted commercial interruptions." I envy the UK viewers who can watch the BBC.

(8,694 posts)were AWFUL. They are Trending on Twitter and the comments are scathing, they are being torn a new one .
FarPoint
(12,467 posts)Uninformed, dry boring ....awful...both of them.
Drahthaardogs
(6,843 posts)Who cares about the commentary. That is like bitching about Christmas morning because you don't like the wrapping paper. This is about the world, stopping for a minute to embrace our own humanity. 99% of the athletes there have no chance to medal, but they come anyway and proudly represent their country. It is a beautiful event, always has been and always will be.

(42,769 posts)and before you can read half of them they're gone. It's going
to be annoying to watch if NBC does this all the way through.
slampoet
(5,032 posts)and that was ALL they talked about,
and then turned around at the very next country and talked about all of the dictators and tribulations that Iraq has been through without mentioning the USA in Iraq at all.
They talked about US and British troop levels when Afghanistan was up.
Also the only thing they talked about with Israel was the Munich killings. WTF?
egregious slanted awful things even considering the usually VERY slanted bits of coverage from NBC.
chalky
(3,297 posts)political horror story. Did they spend the night cramming on negative history? And just this once, would it have killed them to follow the old, "If you can't say something nice, then STFU" rule?

(5,032 posts)I will end up turning this off and yet i would PAY good money to see BBC coverage with my choice of events.

jonthebru
(1,034 posts)Spazito
(50,529 posts)they covered it live and did a very good job, explaining where needed and keeping politics, for the most part, out of it unlike the NBC coverage which, imo, was terrible in comparison.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)which obviously they do not get, some things like Mr. Bean and the Chariots of Fire went well over their heads... and that is just one example.
jonthebru
(1,034 posts)With the volume down. The commentators get on my nerves.
I don't have real complaints about coverage except it is so USA centric. NBC pays a lot of money for the privilege so they get to play lots of commercials.
I consider it as a world game, not a USA game.
