Short diary, few links, but deadly serious. No snark. And unfortunately no proof. But I intend to perpetuate this meme as much as possible until Team Romdroid proves it wrong by releasing Romney's tax returns. Which if I'm right, they will never, ever do. And here's why, in my opinion.
You've probably seen this image, or one like it, making the rounds on the Intertoobz:
Clear enough. Mittens is likely guilty of voter fraud, by living in California (or perhaps New Hampshire), owning no property in Massachusetts, yet voting in the 2010 election by claiming he "resided" in his son's unfinished basement. He's denied it, and though I'm not a Massachusetts political junkie and therefore know few details about how he's managed to fend off the charges of voter fraud, he's so far managed to dodge the story almost entirely.
The tax returns, along with showing just how unethically and unpatriotically clever he's been in sheltering his Rmillions from Uncle Sam and the IRS, will also prove that he resided legally in California when he trundled his rich ass back to MA to cast an illegal vote for Scott Brown.
Mittens: one of the very small number of Americans who actually did commit voter fraud. If I'm not mistaken, the form of fraud he committed in Massachusetts is a felony.
Releasing his tax forms would prove he committed felonious voter fraud. That's my thinking.
That's why he won't release them, and that's why we need to keep hounding him about it. We also need to accuse him of voter fraud, using the info above, and keep after him to disprove the allegation by releasing his tax returns.

I mean, is that a case of Mitt projecting again:

Let me add to the speculation, this time with more evidence. Where did Mitt live from 1999 to 2002: Utah or Massachussett?
As the AP reported in June 2002:
The distinction which Utah officials said was made in error fueled the debate about whether Romney meets Massachusetts' residential requirements to be governor. The state Constitution requires a candidate to live in Massachusetts for seven years prior to election.
And as the Boston Globe explained that same month:
Romney changed those returns to Massachusetts resident in April, after deciding to run for governor, saying his longtime tax advisers at Pricewaterhouse Coopers had made a mistake.

2012: I was in Salt Lake City for three straight years. I dont recall even coming back once to go to a Bain or management meeting. We were, I was out there running the Olympics and it was a full time job, I can tell you that.

(3,398 posts)He uderstated his income to his Church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints expects (requires) a 10% tithe.
If Mitt was telling them that he made, say $20Mil, and wrote a $2Mil check to them...WHEN REALLY he was making 100Mil a year, oh, what a shitstorm that would be.

(1 post)From the evidence it looks like Romney accepted the general IRS amnesty in 2009 and in exchange for admitting he tried to defraud the IRS, was forgiven. However, that requirement that he admit fraud was put there for a reason, so that tax-cheats like Romney wouldn't be able to go Scott-free and they'd have that admission of fraud with them. We are seeing that admission of fraud doing exactly what it was intended to do -- hold Romney accountable for fraud, if he indeed did commit fraud.
So that leaves Romney with the problem of wanting to be president, yet having the admission of Fraud on his IRS record. He's trying to depend on the liars of Fox News and the Republican Tea Party nuts to make enough noise so the Democrats will just forget the whole thing.
I for one cannot and will not forget. Romney has too sleazy a background to forgive him something like Tax Fraud. His activities with Bain where he put thousands of workers out of their jobs and in some cases confiscated their pensions to put into his own bank account are a show-stopper for me.
I am amazed at his arrogance, knowing this stuff is in his background, yet still trying to push his way into the White House. The clown thinks Americans will forgive his sleazy, lying, money-grubbing activities. I won't, and I'm willing to bet I have lots of company.

(14,881 posts)He could easily have released 7 years of returns, back to 2003, and then claimed that Obama wasn't going to be satisfied with anything with some legitimacy.
It's not by chance that he won't release anything before 2010. Because 2009 proves he is a tax cheat and attempted to defraud the US from owed taxes.
And welcome to DU!

(1,278 posts)If these allegations are true and he is still in the race then, this team will drop that bomb on him and it will be over. This campaign is playing to WIN the game! What happens in the dark comes out in the light, and it work both ways, so if not for the need of the corporate punditry to have something to say, this should be a no-contest election with a Democratic majority sweep.
