posting "Friends in Low Places!" for us.

I was able to escape for a couple of minutes to Garth.
It took me back a couple of decades when it was popular and so apt for that time for me too.

What my life was like back then...wow.
Thank you for that.

this whole thing, it took me back to a happier time but also renewed my faith that there is still hope through this dark time in our history. Watching the performers and President Obama brought a warmth to me, replacing that icy feeling that has been hovering over us for the past 15 months or so. Listening to them sing "This land is your land, this land is my land" my eyes started to water, realizing this song is absolutely right this is our land, it doesn't belong to the tRumps of the world, we are stronger than they can ever be, we are America. Walking through this tunnel of darkness we know at the end there is a shinning light waiting for us, we must keep in mind that we cannot let the tRumps, CA, Russia or anything else stand in our way, make us fight amongst each other or lose sight of our common goal, which is to take our home back.
Thank you GoCubsGo for posting this, it is just what the doctor ordered to renew my faith that we will over come this darkness and go back into the light.

He is the biggest selling solo recording artist (of any genre) in history. He has 7 DIAMOND albums (10 million copies sold). He's "retired" multiple times. Simply stated, he has more money than God. And he's married to Tricia Yearwood.

It's simply not possible to "Dixie Chick" him.

This will be as big, if not bigger, than the Women's March! I looked last week and it is 75 cities bigger NOW. Are you going? Check out the map...WOW!
https://event.marchforourlives.com/event/march-our-lives-events/search/

Here are great photos, signs and images for ideas. My sign has the silhouette/chain of the 4 boys and girls with a large, red cross hairs over it. The words say "NRA × $$$ = GOP" and "Teachers Build the Future, NRA/GOP Kills the Future"

Poiticians aren't invited to speak, the focus is on the students (I just heard this on MSNBC).

I always do two sided signs...more bang for your buck. Make sure to get the NRA and shootings on your sign. That IS the focus of this march and it needs to be on all signs in some way.

I make mine out of heavy-duty corrugated cardboard, with a thick, solid, wide folded-cardboard post, so I can comfortably hold it at my shoulder and it will be seen above the crowd. I use a medium size covered in flourescent pink: Easier to get into and out of the subways, and the color makes a big statement for a smaller size. Plus, it's about as wide as I am so it doesn't get into other people's space when we're smushed.

I also print out letters on computer paper so they're thick and even: I fill them in with marker, and so they're very dark and clear, and easy to read if picked up by cameras. I'm no artist.

Some of the signs you see are genius, but others really have no impact: There is an art to it, but I always appreciate anything hand-lettered.

They are round and smooth and easy on my hands. I have been to 14 marches so signs and art supplies can add up with costs. I use foam core (light but sturdy and reusable). Then I get lightweight white poster paper and tape up the two sides and the top like a huge pocket or envelope which I can easily slide down over the foam core with the wooden dowel taped to it (clear packing tape). I tape up the bottom last. Often I tie balloons to it too...make it get attention. I invested in 1" wide black and red maskers. I save all my signs and re-use them sometimes cutting and pasting parts of images if I can. Since it is windy sometimes the sign gets spun around so the two sides and the smooth dowel are a must have.
RESIST!!! This will be on the one side but now he has an added Hitler mustache and hair-do.

In crowds and on trains, I'd actually be afraid to have it in my own hands. But that depends on where you march and your transport.

Sometimes I use a foam board with flourescent poster paper, too, Nothing beats it.

the moron lovers have been violent at protests where the border wall is concerned they were separated from us for our safety and no dowels were allowed so I got a shoelace and wore it around my neck and couldn't use foam core.

I have very diverse tastes in music and he's one of a handful of country music singers I still really enjoy. It seems like there are an increasing number of Dem county music singers lately.

Garth said to the kids marching, it’s “not yours to change, its YOURS..” When you march you have a voice and you rep yourself… be patient, be loving, there may be some cross voices that enter.. be tolerant and loving- don’t let hate win… you as kids… let’s make sure the next generation is not generation of school shootings..

WE SHALL BE FREE

https://vimeo.com/205809116

This ain't comin' from no prophet,
Just an ordinary man.
When I close my eyes,
I see the way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand.
When the last child cries for a crust of bread,
When the last man dies for just words that he said,
When there's shelter over the poorest head,
We shall be free.
When the last thing we notice is the color of the skin,
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within;
When the skies and the oceans are clean again,
Then we shall be free.
We shall be free, we shall be free.
Stand straight, walk proud,
'Cause we shall be free.
When we're free to love anyone we choose,
When this world's big enough for all different views,
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew,
Then we shall be free.
We shall…
