No sign, because I'm an old white guy, and this is put on by the young folks. This is one of those times when it's my turn to listen and speak through my presence.

Haven't come up with a sign, yet. Perhaps an updated version of the one I carried, for years, at anti-Iraq War rallies:

Live just 15 miles from the school, and know several kids that knew some of those killed. Taking my wife, daughter, daughter's boyfriend and cousins.

Protest sign for me: "I stand with the kids !"

Suggested by my daughter (17), as she said the march is about the kids and their movement, and asked me not to get too "political" with my sign.

With my daughter (16) and as many friends as I can get her to invite.

Next to possibly DC, it should be the place to really send the message.

That area isn't really set up for the kind of traffic and people they will see but the City seems to be planning well.

I have been thinking along the same lines about no-sign or minimal supportive signage.

Haven't decided on the sign yet.

Huntington Beach. Also Marches in Santa Ana, Irvine, Laguna Beach, San Clemente - all in Orange County.

There are four buses going from my county democratic group.

March for Our Lives on Chicago's Near West Side
Participants will gather at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St., at 11 a.m., to demand that lawmakers take action to prevent mass shootings. Organizers also emphasized that the march will focus on violence in Chicago.

"In this larger conversation about gun control and school shootings, we need to be incorporating gun violence in places like Chicago, where it affects people of color at higher rates than majorities," said Sarah Jester, a senior at Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago.

Jester said many of her fellow students are too young to vote, and March for Our Lives gives them a voice.

Will be there with my wife and 2 daughters. Nice to see a fellow DUer in Fort Myers.

However, at the same time as the march, I'm attending a meeting on the Commission on the Way Forward, the United Methodist commission designed to revise the Book of Discipline in the area of human sexuality. My bishop is a moderator for the Commission meetings, and will be updating dozens of local churches Saturday on the final report to be presented to the Council of Bishops in April.

As I understand, most of the U.S. bishops and members are in favor allowing pastors to choose to perform same-sex marriages and allowing LGBTQ church members to become clergy, assuming that they are celibate or in a committed relationship (the same requirement exists for straight clergy). The sticking point seems to be the Church as it exists in more conservative parts of the world (especially outside the U.S.). I am quite curious to see how they undo this Gordian knot!

From my son and then take the city bus home or I might walk. I have old bones too but these kids need us. Have fun!
