They dare not call it "terrorism"

I will not name the Austin bomber save to say that as police closed in on him he blew himself up like the coward he was. It's also why the graphic is of the two of his victims who he managed to murder.

My concern is that the regime currently in power doesn't recognize this terrorist spree as terrorism. The perpetrator wasn't Muslim, or black, or Latino. He was a home-schooled, devoutly Christian white male. So of course that doesn't register in the annals of "terrorism".

The fact is that radical Christian white terrorism, in this country at least, has been responsible for the majority of deaths due to terrorism since the 9/11 attacks. But when it's a white man slaughtering innocents, it's termed as "mental illness", not as what it is.

So while we breathe a sigh of relief for our brothers and sisters in Austin, the fact remains that this sort of thing is only encouraged by the current regime's lackadaisical attitude to violence which doesn't stem from the usual suspects. I'm sure if Trump had met the bomber before his spree, he would have regarded him as a "very fine person".

To the right, and the corporate media, the word terrorism is reserved for non-white and non-Christian actors.

It's also reserved for non-male and non-conservative actors.

And belonged to a Christian group called RIOT Righteous Invasion of Truth. Where they learned how to use weapons and conducted mock battles. No wonder the guy was crazy. His Trump voting parents drove him to it.

How can you so misrepresent reality to your children then expect them to have normal lives.

I noticed that in the local coverage here.

"Bombing not connected to terrorism, authorities say."

Good grief.

It's like the American west. When the settlers won a fight it was called a battle. When the Indians won it was called a massacre.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said the 25-minute confession described the seven bombs in detail. “He does not at all mention anything about terrorism nor does he mention anything about hate,” Manley said, “but instead, it is the outcry of a very challenged young man, talking about challenges in his personal life that led him to this point.”

It certainly terrorized the community, but until we know more about his motives, I'm cautious about assuming it was a terroristic act.
