Given my background in surfactants i could not adequately answer that question without those variables supplied.

(65,191 posts)I've been working on the chemistry, reaction and phase/physical, of surfactants for a LONG time. I have to know about 1000 people in the cleaning products business around the world from companies, both big and small, premium and economy.
Soap is a surfactant, but less effective, especially in hard water than detergents. Chemically they're different and almost nobody knows it. Well, let's be honest, nobody really cares either, except for geeks like me.

(65,191 posts)It is an interesting field and it's something everyone needs to keep clean, and the stuff in consumer products is nearly 100% biodegradable, so there's not a giant negative impact on water and air.
I suppose that's better than pesticides and herbicides.
