From The Brady Campaign
It has come to our attention that this guy, Chuck Holton, as well as a guy with dark blond hair named Grant Stinchfield, both from NRA-TV, are expected to be roving through the crowds at the MARCH FOR OUR LIVES, asking unsuspecting marchers some gotcha questions if they can.
SO:
* If someone asks to speak to you, ASK WHO THEY WORK FOR AND ASK FOR PRESS CREDENTIALS
* If it's someone from NRA-TV, DO NOT ENGAGE; REFUSE TO TALK WITH HIM!
We understand that he might list SOME of the components of the NRA's school plan, but omit that it includes ARMING TEACHERS, in an attempt to get you to say that it sounds reasonable. We also hear he'll try to "gunsplain" to you the difference between two similar guns, to show how "ignorant" we GVP activists are about specific guns. Just don't talk with him, and tell your friends the same, too! We especially don't want to see this happen to kids at the march.
Updated to add: The NRA is telling people that this march is being led by "violent radicals." Footage of anyone who is angry will likely be used to support that message. DON'T engage.

(32,640 posts)Like the "sting video" of Planned Parenthood.
And if you get angry - they have material for an ad that claims they are the victims of liberal "hate."
Also, do you really want a kids' face familiar to angry NRA TV viewers?
Best not to wade into that, even if you think that you can debate with them.

(49,005 posts)It is advice that should be repeated constantly with each and every march and event, until it becomes just automatic to do so; until it becomes impossible to give an interview without secondary videoing.
Can we say "video" instead of "tape", please since "tape" is so 1980s, and "film" is so 1960s.

(9,730 posts)But you are exactly right, Bernardo. "Video" is the correct verb. And what a sad commentary it is that we have to video in self-defense.

Keith Olbermann absolutely delivered the perfect formula for success when he got onto the subject of "ambush videos", which Captain O'Loofah was using regularly, typically employing his little cabana boy at the time, Jesse Watters. He said that all you need to do was bring up Andrea Mackris, loofahs, and falafels, and the video footage would thus become completely unusable!

(347 posts)If you identify one or more of these guys, DO NOT drag him around the corner and beat the shit out of him.
And do not call the cops and report him for carrying a firearm or possessing weed.
